DEADLIFT proper form?

Recently Started doing STRAIGHT-LEGGED-deadlifts about 2 mounths ago, the trainer at my gym showed me how. i bend my knees and stick my butt out.

Are you meant to actully let the weight touch the floor and release it before lifting it again, it is called a DEAD-lift sort of like DEAD-weight......on the floor

Thanks

On those kinds of deads no you don't have the weight touch the floor (is it even possible?!), on 'normal' deadlifts the weight should be fully deloaded on the floor before the next rep begins (ie. 'dead'). Hope that helps.

You BEND? your knees when doing STRAIGHT-legged deadlifts?

I've always done them with STRAIGHT-Legs, butt out.

Seems you would get better pull/stretch in the hammies if they were straight....

Experts?

I've not done them for a while but I keep my legs straight.

I'm either flexible or shaped oddly enough to be able to put the bar back down onto the floor between reps but I'm not convinced it's overly relevant for a SLDL. It's probably safer, though, in order to avoid the strain of having to decelerate the bar with your back so mechanically disadvantaged.

Always deload the bar back on the floor for normal deads, except, maybe, for light warmups.

I believe that when done properly the knees should be slightly flexed but shouldnt move at all during the movement.

My knees bend ever so slightly...ever so.

I take the bar down to mid-shin...

B True

I to take the ar to mid shin with a bit of a bend in the legs...

If i take it down to the floor then i am doing more of a squat like movement and pushing of with my legs.

I have a problem with my lower back feeling really stiff the next day and during the excercise.

It sounds as though you need to do more hamstring stretches, in general, for flexibility. Don't over-stretch them beforehand - let warm-ups be your warm-up - but give them a good stretch afterwards. For a long time I used to do hamstring stretches every day. They can help a lot with general lower-back tightness.

A bent knee dead lift is KNOWN AS: Romanian Deadlift. The knee should have a slight bend in it although they shouldn't move at all throughout the movement. They are actually said to work the hamstring even more than having the leg straight. I'm sure a bunch of people could throw their two cents in for the Romanian DLs. If you have questions; just ask
