Dballer and other classic car people, what would you do???

It looks like it was completely restored. The interior is all brand new. I know for sure the numbers don't match. The engine is a 68' engine, whereas the car is a 67'. They told me that much. The paint job is nice. There was only one spot by the back window where it looked like the paint was messed up a little bit. The engine block is original, not painted. Looks like a engine from 68' :) . Definetly wasn't show ready...

Your price is for a numbers matching original car. Move on. Also, for 16,500, you should be show ready. The 428 was never put in that car so that in itself hurts the value. I have a beautiful 69 Vert with a 455 tri-power but it'll never be as valuable as the original. Mine wasn't even a 400 car to begin with. Don't buy from a dealer, period, if you make a deal with a dealer, you got fucked with old school muscle.

So do you think you're going to get it? Or at least considering it? Is it going to be a street car? If any of these questions hinder your price negotiation tactics, feel free to ignore them.
:)

[Anyway, dballer, I'm going to go spy on that camaro before I go to the gym...how can I tell if it's a 68 or 9? [/B][/QUOTE]

Look at the tail light (it's easy)
67= 1 light section
68=2 tail light sections
69= 3 tail light sections

Look @ dballers pictures again and you'll see the difference.
Hope this helps.

The fact that the Firebird is not numbers matching doesn't mean too much if you're looking for a drivers car (something that you'll feel more than comfortable reving and driving enjoyably without fearing you're hurting the collectability of the car). It looked like a clean car from far away but after working a while in the auto paint industry you see that a LOT. Good patience in passing it up when you weren't comfortable (sometimes after driving it, people can get too pumped and are willing to settle).

As far as the Camaro, it seems like a nice car (although 69's are my favorite :)). 10.40 on the gas is pretty good, see what it runs without it (cause the bottle won't always be full). What type of car are you looking for (prostreet, prostock, clean resto)?

I wasn't ever really concerned about the numbers matching. But the price was high for a car without matching numbers and no history on it. I'm primarily looking for a prostreet. Something fast and that also looks good. I'm not planning on putting too many miles on it. But I do plan on driving it at least 3-4 times a week. No major voyages though. The camaro Dballer has for me looks perfect to me. Next step is for me to get down there and buy the damn thing...

DO NOT HUMP FORDS!!! YOU WILL GET AIDS!!!!

Hahaha! True that! Fords are lame, although I wouldnt mind having a Lincoln if it was free or really cheap, but wouldnt pay anything near book because Cadillac, Olds, Buick do it so much better.

Dballer, if I get a single or album out and I'm rich, I'm getting:
- 1970 Chevelle SS 454 (Black w/white racing stripes)
- 1969 Camaro 427 (Blue w/white racing stripes)
- 1964 Impala SS 409 Convertible (gloss black)
- 2002 Cadillac Eldorado ETC (black on black)
- 2002 Cadillac Seville STS (black on black)
- 1999 Cadillac Escalade (black on black) or 2002 Yukon Denali XL, because I hate the new Escalade headlights

Haha - GM is the bomb shit

I'm with you on just about everything there. Except maybe the 64' impala(which I would replace with a 67-69 firebird), and the 2002 Cadillac Seville(reminds me of senior citizens). Some nice cars otherwise...

BeefyBull...
I would go with..
1969 427 Nova..(a COPO car that never went into production)
1970 LS6 Chevelle (Fac. rated at over 450 hp)
1961 Pontiac 421 Catalina
1969 427 Vette L-88
1970 Trans-Am SD 455
1991 GMC Syclone
1989 GMC Jimmy (daily driver)

Top Bottom
