Curvy Expose' ~ Progress & Photo Journal

curvymommy

To Chronicle the progress I've made over the past five years and to celebrate the work ahead, here is my log. My diet is cleaner than it ever has been. I supplement with Lipoflame and vitamins. I am committed to the process that it takes to be healthy and someday have a body I used to only dream of when I was a fat little girl AND adult for that matter.

This was me on 3/10/03!!! I would have rather died than shown these to anyone back then. They are a digital of a hardcopy since I erased them from my hard drive after a crying fit in '03.

After these pics I had another baby and my weight topped out at almost 260 before I got my crap together and took control of my life and had RNY gastric bypass in Mexico in 12/04.

Oh, btw, I wasn't pregnant in these pics either :(

http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL780/3098382/9128252/308731786.jpg

The surgery I am having is a reconstructive tummy tuck and breast lift with possible implants later. It's a lot of money though so in the meantime my goal is to build a buch more muscle so the surgeon can take away as much skin as possible. :)

Here I am how I like to be seen after losing a little weight (clothed!)
http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL780/3098382/6294570/112778819.jpg

I can't believe I'm posting these either but WTH? This will prove that I've come a long way and what my tummy tuck will do for me. Also, proves that I'm not trying to turn any men on here :lmao: The top photos were taken in Dec, the second row in Jan, the third row is Dec again (stupid collage program confused me). My new pics won't be taken til April 1st but the change will be dramatic hopefully, lol.

http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL780/3098382/9128252/308733747.jpg

My main goal is to get down to a size 6 before reconstructive surgery. I currently sit at a size 10/12. I have NEVER been a size 6. I think I skipped it in the 3rd grade on my way to obesity. My other goal is to have an athletic, healthy appearance. Basically to look good like "Wow, that chick works out".

 Thanks in advance for your supportive help, tough love, and constructive critisim. Offensive remarks/karma will not be welcome and will generally be ignored.

WOW!! Great job!! This thread will be a source of motivation for many people for a long time!!

Thanks for having the courage to share your journey!!

YOU ROCK!

Thanks so much. You know, I gotta be me no matter what. I hang out here a lot and forget why I came to this site in the first place. This will keep me on track.

Keep it up girl! You have made huge progress and should be so proud. The tummy tuck will just make you feel even better. It is expensive and a hard recovery, but the results are definitely worth it!

:friends: thanks so much Silver. I am glad to be on track. Posting these pics is motivation to myself to improve, lol.

Great job so far CM, now just keep right on trucking. You have made amazing progress so far. Keep up with the log so we can see your continuing changes.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Wow!

I am so proud of you.

Lady you have balls of steel!

Your dedication and desire to help yourself and others by sharing your story is to be commended.

I can't believe that the woman in those photos is the same!! Once you set your mind to something there is no goal that can not be accomplished.

I am pleased that you are here and look forward to cheering you on. :)

WOW, that is no easy feat losing that much weight.

You look GREAT.

Totally impressed.

What is your goal with regards to your fitness and well-being, and what are you getting in shape for?

I always think that it is important for motivation to thing WHY am I getting in shape, and there are no right answers with this one, just the one that motivates you.

MY SMILE IS CRAMPING UP HERE FOLKS!!!!

Thanks for all of your kind words. This is exciting to me.

Tatyana~ here are my goals:
PHYSICAL My goal is to be a size 6. Have a beautiful physique. By doing this I'll have an athletic, healthy appearance. Basically to look good like "Wow, that chick works out" and to be able look good nekkid, lol.

OTHER To help other formerly obese people reach their goals and not go back to that horrible place. So many of the ppl at my gastric bypass support group do not belive in working out and if they do go to the gym never break a sweat.

Example for my kids.

For personal enrichment and the challenge of it.

3/16/08 Sunday

Just got back home from the gym. Wow, there was a totally different crowd there than usual. I'm still soaked and a little shakey but had to log on and update.

I did a quick warm up on the bike to work up a light sweat. Then I jumped off there and set up my step and dumbells. I was actually running around and didn't want to cool down while setting it up. Anyway, I did:

3 sets of 20 of each with about 20 seconds and water inbetween:
~reverse lunges off the step (3 risers) holding 10# dumbells in each hand
~lying hip thrusts with feet propped on same step bench with risers

3 sets of 20 of each of these:
~squats in the rack with 40# worth of weights on the bar
~seated calf raises with 45# weight on it. (could not get to 20. Reached failure. Maybe a lighter weight next time (?)

This was my first time working out in this manner. I usually stick to a pyramid type lifting regimine with heavier weights but wanted to mix it up with circut training.

Then I hopped back on the bike. Heart rate was already way up and I sweated hard for 30 minuets.

So, drank my PWO shake and 20 more oz of water just now.

More later.

PLEASE feel free to make any suggestions. Eventhough I research a lot, I sometimes feel like I don't know what I'm doing but I do plan my workouts and I always work really hard at them. I am teachable but don't expect to be babysat either.

Were you mad that guys were gawking at you?

Or, mad that they were not gawking at you?

Sounds like a great training and cardio session, CM. I'm just a novice, but it seems like 12-16 sets are perfect per bodypart. I'm sure BKM, Tat, and our other fine ladies will chime in with more succinct suggestions.

Great going girlie! Good on your water consumption!

you mean 12-16 reps per set? how many sets? lol? Sheesh, i have a lot to learn.

20 seemed like way too much on my calves. I can tell you that right now! I totally failured out on those early on but then went back to my squats and did it again to failure. So, maybe lighter weight or fewer reps? I'll hush now and see if anyone has any input.

No , sorry, I meant 12-16 sets, total... Looks like you had 4 different exercises at 3 sets each. I've heard that 12-16 (total) sets (per body part) is a pretty optimal routine. I think you did fantastic:)

Fab, that is SO important. All the looking good thing is great, but it is not going to keep your butt going to the gym.

One thing I love for women to get is that how training smart (once you are in good shape) doesn't really take all that much effort to stay in shape.

It is a really good thing to inspire others to be fit and well.

Especially the kids :)

WOW WEE!! I missed this thread somehow, way to go!! you keep that shit up and I'll have to stop eating BP&J in the middle of the night.... that's just fantastic, you should be DAMN proud of yourself, I sure am.....

3/17/08 Monday

Ok, well today has been pretty good. Got to the gym as scheduled and did my cardio only day. Was on the elliptical for 30 minuets and then did some ab work. Had to hustle to go pick up my kids in time.

Tomorrow is upper body and I'm really excited about that.

Eating is under control and water consumption is sitting pretty at 80 ounces so far.

Oh yeah...as much as I hate to shop, today I did manage to buy a new book about lifting weights. I just want to make sure my form is right and might look like a dork if I take it with me to the gym but I don't care :)

Also, bought my FIRST ever form fitted top that I wore in public. I have had tops like this in the past but have NEVER worn one in public. Today I did and felt pretty comfortable.

a little muffin top there but it's all good:

Figure comp? For real? Wow. I better start meditating on that now.

I am 5'5'' and 160ish.

Seriously, you could!!

To me, you look about 5'8" or 5'9". :) Great proportions, I think, and you must have some serious muscle going on.

Hey, here's a serious question for BlueBird or anyone who might have an opinion.

For the month of March I am supposed to be in a weight loss/inches lost competition with my good GF from the gym. I know, I know, not a good thing. We just did it to motivate each other and to spur eachother on. We are the exact same stats.

I am thinking I should forfiet it to her. I don't want to do anything dumb to my body. I am so happy with my progress and am really into lifting. She is really into spinning.

Any thoughts on this stupid thing I've gotten myself into? A $20 Nordstrom gift card is on the line.

Oh thanks you so much. I have come so far from the humiliating pics on the first post that to do anything like that would be an absolute dream.

It's gonna be fun dressing this summer for the first time ever, lol.

I think a healthy competition would be okay. By now you know exactly what you need to do to move forward without compromising your health or progress. I'd say approach it as something to entertain if you've gotten to a tedious part of your routine.

I do think it would be a mistake to base it on pounds or inches lost. I think a more fun goal would be endurance and strength gains. AND YOU'RE GONNA WIN, SO NONE OF THIS FORFEIT TALK. :)

Don't worry about the competition. Just keep doing what you are doing. So what if she beats you. You will still be making kick ass progress.

Sweet. I don't want to go crazy and lose a bunch of water weight. I'll just stay the course and see how it goes down. Thanks Slat1. You seem cool and I appreciate your take on this.

Us girls do crazy stuff sometimes to light a fire under our butts I suppose.

It's so great to have my own personal cheering section. I can actually picture you all and my family when I am reaching my high points at the gym and think I have to stop! I'm ALL about the mind games...in a really good way. I really use mental visuals to push it. If I zone out and watch the tv I'll have to quit so I'll envison all of you!

Off to the gym now, so I'll come update when I get my DK's down for thier nap. I have a few diet questions.

lololol...exactly! Visualization works. But would it be revealing too much to say I picture myself looking good nakid? lol

Ok, I got back a little while ago. The problem I have is that I'm trying to do my workouts on an empty stomach everyday. If I can't get to the gym early enough, this makes my first real meal lunch.

I have a shake made with no-sugar protein powder and water at 8AM. Am I ripping my self off by not eating solid food earlier? Any thoughts on when to eat my first meal on days I can't do a 5 AM workout? :worried:

No, because that's EXACTLY what motivates change. MM69 referred to it as 'manifesting' a like result. You are what you dream:)

Are you doing a cardio session in the am and wts in the pm? If so, I wouldn't think the later solid meal would be so detrimental following just an aerobics session.

Tatyana or BKM should be able to give you an expert opinion on pushing your first solid meal, after a combined workout routine, to noon on some days. :)

I AM SOOOOO SUPER PUMPED NOW! I'll give details soon but for all who are following my log I'll just tell you this: BE Excited for me...very excited to see me looking really great soon!

You tease!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my new way of working out/eating and it's working! I have been planning out my workouts before hand and following them to the letter.

The main difference is that I can really tell I am losing inches from my hips, my neck looks stronger and I feel really great.

In the past I have rested a lot between sets. Now, instead of doing that, I am just moving the whole time doing 4 exercises and then resting for 90 seconds and repeating this. Right after that I jump on the treadmill for 20 minuets and go at a speed of 4.5 and an incline of 7. Sometimes I have to slow down and bring the incline down or else it kills the front of my shins (?)

Anyway, as of APRIL 1ST, I am embarking on a great training program that is sure to whip me into the best shape I've ever been in! Oh, wait, I AM in the best shape, but even better. More on that later as details develop.

Right now I am feeling a very strong PULL to just keep going and not quit for the next week. It would be so easy to throw in the towel and curl up with some chocolate but I'm staying mentally tough and not gonna cave to temptation of slacking off.

Sounds like you're doing great, CM! I can hardly wait to see your new routine.

Being as mentally prepared as you are, I know you can continue to make fantastic progress.

Happy Easter to you girlie!

Ha! It's usually both. Today to his credit he was ever so slowly waking up on his own when I got back.

When my eyes open, I jump outta bed in the AM and go right to sleep at night. He is the complete opposite.

Today so far:

4:45 AM LIPOFLAME then~
CARDIO #1 : Arc Trainer 25 minuets
CARDIO #2: Recumbent Bike 20 minuets

So far drank 40 ounces of water, PWOS with glutamine powder

Getting the kids ready for the day then back to the gym for my upper body workout at 9:30 AM.

Eating is on track but I need to write it all down today. Goal and actuals. I'm off to do that now. :)

I haven't been following this thread too closely CM... all I can say is WOW! GREAT WORK!!

As for the question about solid meals. There is nothing that you get from a "drink" or "bar" or any other supplement that you can not get from whole food. The drinks are supposed to be SUPPLEMENTAL - in that they do NOT replace food that you are supposed to be eating.

PLEASE EAT IN THE AM! You will have more energy for your workouts, thus you will be able to train harder and build more mass so that your metabolism WILL GO UP!... You WILL burn more calories .... even at rest. Does that make sense to you?

If you can't eat a larger quantity of food then this is a quick easy little meal that I have eaten often. Put some peanut butter on a plain rice cake and put a nice dollup of full fat cottage cheese on that. It is quick, easy, you dont have to cook and it will be broken down and utilized by your body at a slower rate then a drink.

YOU GO GURL!!! :)

Wow! Up at 4:45 and onto two sessions of cardio...dayum! I'm waiting to see what kind of wts and nutrition program Omega's got in store for ya.

Keep it up, CM :rose:

Thank you Bikinimom  I AM eating in the AM now :) and am even taking a PWOS to the gym to down right afterwards. Then I eat with my DK's (eggs and ww toast) then I go back for my weights followed by lunch. So, getting better on the eating!

WHOA!!!

Here's what just happened. :chomp:

Went back to the gym at 9:30, intending to do my upper body workout. While swiping my card I ran into an instructor of a new class that was about to start! She recruited me to take her class and I jumped right into the first row. Oh man! It was so intense! It was a full body, body sculpting workout that lasted for 90 minuets! Oh wow. I was so shaking afterward and thanked her for encouraging me to try it. Amazing workout. I thought I was gonna die!

Afterward she said she was impressed at my endurance. It was like she was trying to kill us and a few ppl did walk out but I hung in and loved it.

More later!

I get really bored on the same machine and after 25 minuets I jumped off the first one and onto the bike then went back for weights at 9:30, that's when I got roped into the weights class. My heart rate was up then too so it was a lot of cardio. Half of it was by accident, lol.

Is that too much working out you think?

I get really bored on the same machine and after 25 minuets I jumped off the first one and onto the bike then went back for weights at 9:30, that's when I got roped into the weights class. My heart rate was up then too so it was a lot of cardio. Half of it was by accident, lol.

Is that too much working out you think?

I think Tat, BKM, or Omega can answer best, but I've heard 30 minutes cardio is sufficient and additional cardio sesssions (like a pm workout) is usually utilized closer to a contest prep.

Ok, I really need help then because I'm trying to burn fat. I will email Omega and get his help. Remember...my BF is still around 30%. I don't want to harm myself though.

So, my total AM cardio was 45 minuets and then my weight session got my heart pumping too. I need direction on this.

Sometimes a negative voice creeps in and says, "just relax fatty, slack off, it's fine. Who do you think you are anyway? blah, blah"

I just say shaddup to it but still... :(

Yep, omega will be able to answer all your questions. I do know this for sure, the more muscle you build, the more efficiently they will burn fat...win/win. You're doing GREAT!!

While a lot of the research on cardio is often a bit confusing (slow or HIIT for fat burning), best heart rate etc, these are a few things I think are good general rules of thumbs

- no more than 45 - 60 min in a session (unless of course you are out for a long walk) as it can suppress immune system function

- the body adapts quite quickly to whatever you throw at it, so it is a good idea to change from walking to cycling, different intensities etc

- best times are first thing in morning before eating or after training

- there also seems to be more fat burning when your heart rate goes up and down, so things like doing 20 min, then doing some weights or stretching then doing another 20 min seems to work really well

- also I think the best thing is to incorporate walking into your lifestyle.

After visiting the US, I do realise this is quite difficult in some circumstances, and the walks are not always that pretty, but I do think things like walking the children to school is perfect, and good for the young ones

Keep in mind that the last set of pics are befores of me NOW as I am currently working with OMEGA to take things to the next level!

I'll post up new progress pics probably June 1st!

Thanks for letting me know my pics were down. :( I don't know why they delete them. I mean, I know fatty pics are not awesome but they aren't porn either, lol!

OMGOSH!!! LOOK at those huge @ss pictures!!! Wow, if this isn't motivation to keep going I don't know what is.

Let me just say that I am sticking to the Omega project. It is DO OR DIE at this point in my journey.

I just look at those pics and feel a very strong motivation. That's all people. Wow, I'm a normal chick but you won't recognize me soon :)

It helps a lot that you're beautiful, loving, caring, motivated and inspirational.

WOW! I have to say congrats so far! I find alot of motivation in seeing your progress. I was wondering if everyone on these boards were competitors, etc or if there were any non-competitors just looking to get in better shape and take it to the next level.

I am very impressed. I need to lose about 10-15 lbs(this is a constant debate between me and my trainer--I say 15, she says 10). Anyway, great to see someone else with the same mindset as me making great progress!

Wow! I have tryed to view your photo's before & they were deleted.
You have completely transformed yourself!
Kudos CM~ you look beautiful. :)

LMAO! Exactly! I'm too cheap for Subway three times a day. I do eat there on occasion and they have a huge cardboard cutout of him standing with his old fatty pants. My kids always say "Mommy! Why are his pants so big?" I said "Well, babe, if you eat too much unhealthy food..." and my DD cut me off, "Then you have to have big pants?!" So funny! :chomp:

HAHAHAH! See Alcatraz, there's so much more to me than a genius' mind :p

Big respect for posting your fat photos.

You are going to make a HUGE difference to so many women.

I think that being a fattie at one stage in your life is actually a blessing in disguise.

Just think if you had never had to learn about training and diet, and then got really fat at 40 or 50.

SO much more difficult to make changes then, and it is highly unlikely you will ever get in peak condition.

You still can while you are in your 30s.

:)

Keep it up Curvy you have a really beautiful bone and body structure, you and I'm sure others will be blown away as you reach your goals.

:D

Stop Traffic girlfriend and smile large.

WOW keep up the awsome work.. You are making huge progress !
takes some balls to post the before . But even bigger balls to post the transformation pics as you are doing the program !

Oh thanks you guys. Ya know? My fatty pics are horrible and I know that. I didn't even smile, lol.

But I am just so freaking OVER MYSELF that I don't even care if anyone know how fat I was and how curvy I still am.

Maybe I should change my name to bigmommyballs. lol.
