Corruption of American Children

Imnotdutch said:

Lets see........kids today:

Are aggressive.
See swearing as everyday language.
Have little respect for anybody.
Next to no respect for the property of others.
Resort to violence whent hey dont get what they want.
Have an attention span that is outstripped by the stupidest cockroach.
Want everything done for them.
Struggle to think for themselves.
Are totally incapable of persevering at something if it is even remotely difficult.

etc etc.

Some of that has got to be attributable to the shit they are exposed to on TV, in games etc.

I am a kid of today and I am perfect

Kids of today are also under the impression that they are always right and everybody else is wrong.........in other words they think that they are perfect ;)

Lol dude, stick it to him. Bloody young whipper snappers *shakes his cane*

hmm...

Well... all I can say is that kids only emulate their parents behaviors.

Seems like a lot of people try to make a direct comaprison of behaviors from child to parent and I dont thik it works that way...

The emulation is more like a response to types of stress or sensation.

If a kid sees his prents constantly lying or cheating as if there were nothing wrong with it... he may not necessarily become a liar but will shrug standards of morality as unimportant.

Morality is not fading away its changing... so what if kids swear...
If its not morally unacceptable to hear cuss words then what difference does it make... Why is the word "fuck" specificaly worse than anything else..

All it is... is a verbal way to express extreme emotion... someone ARBITRARILY decided that Fuck is a bad word... bingo.. now when kids say it society is falling apart.

And bitching about nudity??!! what the hell is that... Maybe if society didnt place such a stigma on nudity it wouldnt be a big deal in the first place. Sexuality in thic country is fucked enough thanks to religion and there is so much guilt surrounding it. Kids associate nudity on TV with something "dirty" and something they are not supposed to see. Why? Are we going to have a whole society of rapists if they see a pair of tits on TV?? Of course not... but all the zealots would lead you to believe that.

We constantly tell our kids NO, NO NO yet we dont give them any real reasons..... that only serves to mystify and glorify the behavior.. like drinking and smoking and yes even sex.

We make all these efforts to "hide" these behaviors from children but we are too stupid as adults to see that the "bahaviors" are NOT the problem... its the "hiding" thats the problem...

Kids want what they cant have and they want it even more when we tell them its bad for them.

As a society we need to lighten up and stop teaching our kids guilt.

There is a massive difference between nudity and ass to mouth facials.

AS much as I like the concept I admit that its not really teaching anybody to respect women.

I couldn't agree more, and I find it absolutely heart-wrenching to watch what's being done to kids these days...it's all part of the dumbing down of America.

Much of it stems from de-sensitizing people; what was considered abhorrent behavior even 15-20 years ago has now become the norm, and is "socially acceptable." Sure, there were plenty of fucked up people 15-20 years ago, but we didn't glorify them like we do today. Something is seriously wrong with this country when kids are forced to look up to cross-dressing sports stars and rock musicians like Marilyn Manson as role models.

Society had the right (sic) to take a stand against such things then, but today the (vested) interests of political correctness have negated those rights. If someone dares to take a stand today, they're immediately labeled as intolerant or a bigot. (Interesting double-standard there... group "A" screams for accetptance and tolerance, yet refuses to accept and tolerate group "B"...and vice versa...but that's another rant I'll save for later)

Perhaps the saddest thing of all is the fact that there's little to nothing we can do about it now. You can't un-scramble an egg.

As much as I'd like to go on a nice little diatribe about this, I won't. I will say this much however;

It's gonna get a helluvalot worse before it ever gets better.

I only WISH my 13 year old son would emulate our behaviors...Oh, what a dream come true that would be!

Why not expose them to everything and have them make their own decisions on what is right and wrong.

I am just of the mind that that which is forbidden will appeal that much more to kids than what is out in the open.
