Me and my wife were walking out of a movie last night when we walked past to young guys maybe just out of High School. My wife heard them say somthing and she smiled and kind of giggled but wouldn't tell me anything other than it was a compliment to me until we were in the car leaving. Finally She told me the one kid had looked at me and told his friend...Look at that guy..He's huge!! (killer compliment) Then his buddy replied back...Yea but he's short........WTF!! (That Hurt) so when is 5'10" short?! I'm normal Damn it! lol...kind of took the wind out of my sails.....

So, how tall was the bonehead that made the "yeah, but he's short" comment?

Bro, IMHO, you should be thankful for what you have...you "walked" out of the theater...some people have to roll out.

If 5-10 is short, I guess I'm a midget, I'm 5-8, 5-9 on a good day...

don't be upset about being short! It takes less weight to look big. Me on the other hand i'm somewhere between 6' and 6'1 i'm a freaking lumberjack and it takes alot of weight for me to look big :( i get the skinny weak as a noodle burns. Hell even on here i have ppl talk shit about me giving advice just cuz i'm not as big as other people, seems like being bigger makes you more qualified i guess oh well. So no worries :D i'd rather be shorter now then i'd look and would be so much bigger

Funny! Roll out.. yeah, after they have eaten like 5 pounds of popcorn with 2 gallons of butter on it. Now me on the other hand, takes pride in "Rolling" out of a place.. when I'm rollin!
 
He probably assumed you were short because you're big. And a lot of short guys get big to compensate for being on the short size.

In 2008, the average American male is 5' 9" (Though I don;t know if that means most are that height or it's the average including giants and midgits. ):)
 
lol dude 5' 10" aint short. He was just a jealous kid looking for some way to put you down because you looked so good. You know how it goes.

Its the same as the fat girl that puts down the hot blonde because she's so much skinnier and prettier.
 
Yea I was thinking 5'10" was average myself. I didnt get a good look at the kid because I actually didnt hear him my wife did. Nelson I think your right though. I looked much taller when I was a lean 200 back in the day. I'm currently holding onto 250lbs at about 10%. If anything I look like an upside down triangle.

Jesus fucking christ bro!!!!! 250lbs. @ 10%... at 5'10" Thats some serious slabs of beef!! I'm 6'0 270. I dont know my BF% but its way higher than it should be. (i do see abs outline though) My goal is exactly that, 250 @ 10%
 
If I remember correctly, I read a while back that 5'9" was average height for males. I caught a bunch of crap from a couple of coworkers for being short at 5'7" and I argued that they were the ones that were abnormal by being 6'3" and 6'6".

Its funny because people I outweigh refer to me as skinny sometimes, guess its the small waist or somethin.

Less than 1% of the population is 6'6" or more.

It's funny, if you see someone between is 5'8" to 6'0" they seem normal. But as soon as you're just an inch shorter or taller than that, you're either "short" or "tall."

Then again, I'm just under 5'11" (actually, 5'10 1/2) and never thought of myself as short or tall. I did some soap opera stuff and they have a habit of using people "over average " height, so I guess I'm "tallish." But I'd be hanging around with some of these kids in their 20's who were 6' 3", 6' 4" and I felt like a fucking midget!

Also, when I was in Europe, in Italy I was a giant, in Switzerland I was a shrimp.
 
5'9" is off the rack purchases..

my wife would have said to the kid "you here with your buddies right??"

Im 5' 10 and I always thought I was kinda short, but I always get that I didn't realize you were that tall when people are right beside me. I'm about 215 so these dudes carrying 250 at 5'10, Im sure look shorter than they are to people from a distance.

Naw, I wish I was 6'1", but I ain't but 5'10". I looked taller at about 195, I have very small joints and my waist is small, but at 215 I honestly look like I have shrunken in height. Im prolly pushing 6' with my shoes on. I was always listed when I played ball @ 6', but no shoes Im a 5 10'er.

Yea its a bitch to put weight on thou. I can cut up over nite, but hell adding a pound is like pulling teeth. Although I have add 35 in a year, without my BF going up at all, but as I have said my body is super friendly to AAS. I have always stayed right around 8% BF or less and my diet is shit. I guess thats just God given genetics. Everybody always wants what somebody else has thou, big guys wanna be ripped and small guys wanna be huge, we are never satisfied.:(:(
 
I want to say ditto about looking shorter the bigger you get, it's a ratio thing. Some say it's the other way around, who knows. I'm 6'2", I'd have to weigh 280 to look as big as you- according to the standard ancedotal calculations. A buddy of mine is 6'7" with scoliosis (so, he slumps and with a straight spine would be 6'9" or so) and has a hell of a time looking bigger. When we started training together he weighed 185 lbs which was bone thin for a guy his height. He's about 220 now and still looks skinny, now that's rough! lol. He's a good dude and busts his ass, and it makes me feel like my ectomorphic ass has it easy!

I bought a pair of Doc Martin boots last year, workboot style. I'd never tried on a shoe that fit me so damned well, so I had to buy them. They're great boots. But, since I have a fallen arch and bad knees as a result, I put in a special arch support insole which added a bit to the already 2" or so heel on those things. When I wear them people think I'm 6'4" or 6'5" easy! lol. Then, when I wear sandals everyone thinks I shrink in summer!

I recently lost about 20-25 lbs due to injury that is still fucking with me, but i've also been told that i look taller, funny that someone mentioned this. Im lookin forward to not looking so tall anymore:)

I think you got it all wrong man. Being a married man for a couple of decades now I am beginning to understand the female mind. It's true that the guys said that you're huge but your wife made up the part about you being short so your ego wouldn't get out of hand. And she could knock you down a peg and it wouldn't be on her at all.
 
sorry bud you are huge but 5'10 hahaha.... short guys make me giggle, i'm tall but i'm not very muscular so if i giggle and they hear me i'll get punched in the eye. lol

That would be one fucked up thing to do if she really did do that. If she did then she surely can't be trusted.

Everybody wants 2 more inches somewhere... I'm almost 6' 1" and would love to be 6' 3". Go figure...
