Bought new vette

After much soul searching ....
- sold the 1966 427
- bought a new 2010 classic Corvette coupe (4LT)
- invested the $100k difference in money market for daughter's university education.

I couldn't even take the 66 out for fear of theft and the odd paint chip. It just sat there in storage. Used a broker.

I'm not going to be paranoid about the new one. Going to break it in on a long road trip up to the Hudson Bay and back.

And I've always seen education make a huge turn around difference in a young person. Getting her in an urban university will do this.

Oh yes ... I could not sleep after doing this, but it is the right thing.

I am keeping my old Ford Taurus for the snow season.

We have a trio of Vettes in my family. I've got an '08 (guess it's the base model, 1LT?), father's got an '05 Z06 and a tuxedo black '67 with the 427 three deuces setup.

Probably selling your '66 was a good idea. They're meant to be driven. If you weren't comfortable with doing that it should go to a new custodian.

no i'd buy a used one in a year or so, if i couldnt get it for under 90, then i'd buy a gallardo for 80. if i couldnt swing that then i'd have to go with a used M6. those are my top three cars i like.

Corvettes plunge in value the first year so I guess that's certainly possible. I have an '08 I got in March of last year with under 1k mile on it for 40k. That's 10k off the original price after 4 months and like 900 miles.
