Looks good keep working hard!! My son is only 16, hes benching 225x3 . Hes only about 140lbs. I try to tell him to eat clean but you know how yall youngsters are. lolololol

not sure if this is true but heard it.

there should be a ratio of bench, squat, deads of 1:2:3.

anyone else ever heard of this?

that's ridiculous. I wish my squat was 540 lbs and deadlift was 810lbs (My current bench is 270).

in bodyweight terms I've seen:
1.0 military
1.5 bench
2.0 squat
2.5 dead

This is to maintain proportion.

To the OP, your squat is no joke. Make sure you are going sub-parallel, ass to the ground or it doesn't count. You will become a better strength athlete because of it...

idk about touching the ground squating lol thats pretty low but i get parallel when i squat.

just go slightly past parallel. No need to go all the way to the floor. However, if you drop some weight off your regular squat, then do deeps squats (glutes on the floor basically, or sitting on your heels.) There is benefit to doing this after your regular sets. Or, you can use a little lighter weight to begin with and do deep squats, but you don't "need" to. Deep squats are hard on your knees hence the lighter weight.

I squat more then I dead. Always have.

My deadlift sucks but it is still better than my squat... lol... so I guess my squat sucks too.

Are you sure you are going deep enough on the squat? A guy your size should be pulling 100 lbs. more than you squat.

your on the right track bro. just try to to let your ego get the best of you and make sure you keep lifting with proper form. Also try and keep you protien over 200 grams per day. Since your only 140lbs that should be ample to grow. Your at the right age to get a solid physique early and be looking tough by your sophmore year of high school.

heres my stats
age:15
weight:220
bench:245x1
squat:415(parallel
dead:n/a(was a pu$$ last year and the begging of this year because it hurt my back but know im getting back into the grove

Any tips how i can get a better deadlift?

Yep, do more deadlifts, lol.

You gotta get over psyched to lift big on deads. Get your intesity through the roof as you prepare for a set. Intensity is a key factor for doing deadlifts, IMO anyway. If i'm not intense, I can't do as much weight.

Doing squats will also help dead lifts because you do use the same groups to squat as you do to deadlift, except the emphasis on muscle groups is different. You also happen to use your back/traps and arms while dead lifting.

What rep range to you train with deadlifts?

Try 5 sets of 5 but make sure your form is perfect so you don't hurt yourself

+1

Deadlifts you should trains in rep range of 5-8 not 10+. It will increase your whole body's strength better that way

This is untrue. They are actually better for your knees as the weight of the bar is trasferred from your knees to your hips when you break parallel.

are you kidding? I can do seated military for 1 good rep at 225, as of now...

but i cant squat 500, i did 455 once, though, same with deads.

Honestly im a far better presser over head, than bench press. all triceps baby!

serious as a heart attack. What would I be kidding about?

a buddy of mine is goign to school for fitness and health related things and has told me below parallel puts alot of of the weight on the hips.. i know i feel i when i go deep

and is that military supposed to be standing or sitting? for the 1.0

Yes, it is true. Why? Because as soon as you begin to stand up to finish the rep, right as you hit parallel again the weight shifts right back to your knees.

Are you trying to say a heavier weight is easier on the joints than a lighter weight? Lol, that's totally backwards. More weight = more stress on joints. That is true for every excercise you can possibly think of.

Yeah I always thought that it went in order of heavyness:
Bench, Squat, Deadlift with the occasional guy that squats more than he deads.

I on the other hand am very shit at squats atm adn isnt much more than my bench. My Deads are fuckin awseome though

hmm ill go deep and see wut i think

Make sure you back off on the weight alot until you get the feel for it. Going deep will be an eye opening experience. Look at some of the members vids or do a google search to see what the sub-parallel squats should look like...

Military is standing. You stand tall with your chest out and back straight. The same posture you use when standing at attention in the Military.

So with your logic the stress being entirely on your knees throughout the whole rep is better for them than transfering the stress to your hips as you are changing from descending the weight to ascending it (which by my logic is the point of highest stress regardless of what joint the weight is being supported by.)

Alright, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

And no, as you can see I am not saying heavier weight is easier on the joints. I'm simply saying that deep squats are easier on your knee joints than parallel or above parallel squats are. Especially if you are planning to lift heavy weights.

Lol, In the future I would appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth.
