Beginner to weight training need some help

if you need volume then do lower weight first
 
I'm looking to do a linear progression program. I'm currently 82 kg and I want to stay around that number. I'm curious about what kind of repetition range and what method you guys would recommend for me
I'm 22 years old
one of the things that a trainer recommended was to focus on Lower rep ranges maybe doing a 3x5 type of training. do you think this would be a good start for me? and then I could increase the weight by 5 kg every couple weeks
cant hurt nut you want to mix it up...confuse the body and muscle
 
I would first focus most on diet. Then, with training, focus on form first. You can move up in weight and reps once you master your form. Start with compound exercises.
