how to do a deload

I’m curious about how to run a deload for best results
I’ve been weight training for the past 5 years with very little break. I think the longest break I took was probably 2 weeks. I typically train 10-15 rep range and 20-25 set range per split.
Interested in trying a deload. Can you guide me on the best way to execute something like this?
 
simply drop the amount of weight you are doing by 50%
that will be a deload
 
cut back your reps/sets by 25%
that will help
 
deloading can mean many things
a popular way to do it would be doing half the # of sets
