I had a nasty accident about 3 wks ago...it was a freak accident but i am happy to be alive. I had multiple fractures as well as surgery...I am praying that I will not need more. this will be a long recovery. I am a long way away from seeing the inside of a gym again (upper and lower body are broken). Needless to say im feeling kinda down. Not sure why im posting this...guess i just wanted to reach out and say hi.

peace

Hey bro, sorry to hear that...hope you get better very soon...keep your head up ...

Sorry to hear about that bro, but glad to hear your okay. Use your time off for some self reflection and build some new goals. Then when you do hit the gym again, hit it with a veangence. Shit happens in life, its your perception and the way you handle it that is the definitive factor in whether or not it's going to hinder you or make you a better person. I know it sounds corny but its true. Good luck with everything bro, I'm sure it will all work out for the best.

very well said.

keep your spirits up....

Ive banged myself up a few times, had to take 2 years off at one point. You will get back in time. Let your body heal and keep you mental strength high - the gym will be there when you are ready for it.

We hope for the best for you. get better soon. and when u do get back in there, dont get dicouraged about losing some strength,, remember about muscle memory , it'll all come back. keep at it and stay well.

hey i really hope you get well real soon

on a side note a few years ago a close friend rammed his car into a phone booth, he thought its over he couldnt imagine ever being normal again today hes just like anyone else trains with me sometimes and it looks like it never happened all the best

well brother, I know where your at right now. About a year ago I went off a roof at a house fire. Long story short, I fucked up my lower half (thank God not my back) feet were bad, in fact, I almost lost my right foot due to 2 fractures, 4 dislocation, and 4 torn ligaments..cartlidge damage yadda yadda yadda. 6 months on crutches, non-weight bearing on my right foot for 6 fucking months. It sucked, and obviously the gym became a thing of the past, but one to look foreward to for the future.
I am gonna guess that all of us are alot alike in the fact that we work out for the personal goals we set. The personal challange to eat, train ect the way we should. This unfortunate set back will be nothing more than a new obsticle placed in your way for you to over come. Dont rush it too much, It comes back quick. Stay positive, and look foreward to the challange. This will make you a stronger person in the end. It took me about 4 months to get back to where I was before the accident....but my new appreciation for my ability to overcome challanges is such a self esteem booster.

all I can say is good luck, stay positive. Come on here and get a word of encouragement when needed, and youll come out of this stronger than you went into it (and not just physically)

Good luck bro

Wow! i really appreciate all of your kind words. I have been very emotional the past few weeks coming to terms with not being able to do much for myself. thanks for the uplift. Take care all

I understand where you are coming from. I had cancer and during chemo I was in intensive care for a week on three separate occasions. I'll tell you the secret to getting through.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog!

If you don't mind me asking a straightforward question, but I am curious to know what exactly happened to you.

Hope you heal quickly.

Sorry to hear that bro. You will be in my prayers and don't get down..positive attitudes are what will get you on your way to full recovery. Make sure to get plenty of rest and eat well. Do't miss any rehabs and be sure to in good communication with your doctor. Make your doctor do kis job. Ask him as many questions as you like and seek out others advice as well. Good Luck buddy keep us posted on your progress.

I've been in that situation before. Im lucky to be alive. I got roasted by a 17 year old girl without a license. She was driving an old 70's somethin oldsmobile.

If you can believe it, I actually went through the windshield...

I ended up breaking my collar-bone, my left leg in 3 places, my left foot in 2 places and I had over 400 stitches (200 of which were in my forehead alone).

Wanna talk about bein broken down. That shit sucked. Was a long road to recovery.

You can do it man. Dont let it get you down too much. Goodluck and stay safe. :Chef:

I know how you feel bro, i was wounded in Iraq by multiple hand grenades in a house raid, almost lost my legs, ended up with 70% skin graphs on my legs due to bi-lateral fasciotamies to both legs because of compartment syndrome, among other surgeries such as open knee, foot surgery, ect. about 12 in all. Never thought id be in the gym again. 8 months later here i am hitting like a beast and getting bigger than ever bro, God bless man, dont get down on yourself or youll miss the best growing experience of your life.

oooof.

:worried:

Bro ... i'm 42 and been there done that , don't worry the human body is an incredible healing machine if you let it ...

I've broke just about every bone in my body and some 2 3 and 4 times over again ... I've even fractured C-3 C-4 yet i still stand upright and walk :)

In 1999 i broke both my wrists !! both bones ,clean breaks which needed to be pinned together with 4 pins in each wrist .. 2 pins in each of the forearm bones , i also smashed the right eye orbit or floor that your eye sits on .. they fixed that by taking a bone graph off my right hip then gave me a plastic cheekbone ...

To make a long story short .. I'm back !! and benching in the low 400 range without a spot , the picture of me in my profile is last summer at 242lbs 5' 10" away from the gym for a few months , so no pump ( arms are still 20" ) ... i'm more toned and cut now and still making forward progress ...

So take some personal trime to heal .. the gym will still be there when your ready to come back and your body will once again respond to a training load like before ...

Personaly .. I thought my lifting days were over after breaking my arms but i came back just as strong as i was before ..

Good luck

Hey fellas I found this thread from right after my accident. I spent 2.5 years on the couch with multiple surgeries and chronic pain. I almost died more than once. I had a moment of clarity in september of '08. I decided not to give up on life and told myself I was going to come back or die trying. I was so jacked up I could not walk 2 blocks with out needing to rest. I went to the gym/pt every day like it was a job. Most of the time I would cry b/c of how weak and how much I hurt. I could not see the changes on a daily basis but as the months rolled buy I did notice changes.

I am no where near where I was before my accident - but I have come further than I ever would have imagined. I have put on almost 30# from my low point and am lean but not ripped My strength is between 60 and 75% of what it was pre accident depending on the lift. I just wanted to say hi and that I'm back I really appreciate all of the kind words many of you sent and pm'ed. Im back in action and looking foreword to contributing to the board again. Im prolly going to run a low test/gh cycle in the late summer just for grins.

good to hear man with that attitude about it youll be enjoying life even while youre not at 100% yet just take it slow and good luck with the rest of your recovery

this is wonderful news, sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you realize what life is all about, congrats on beating the odds.
