attempted first pin this morning...

Man, it is SORE this morning. Its not the whole muscle though, just the area I injected and then it extends outward just a bit. Is this normal, or should the whole muscle be sore? There is no redness or swelling or anything like that, just sore.
 
I'm 24. 5'8 170 currently. I've been lifting since I was 15 as a wrestler in high school. I was an idiot and took a prohormone when I was 17 without knowing what I was doing. Got in to power lifting after high school. I was going to try to compete at 163, then I tore 3 ligaments and fractured my ankle in 2 places playing football at the beach ha. After I recovered I worked back up to a 495 lb squat 545 deadlift and 290 bench. My bench was always my weakest lift. Anyways I developed bad tendinosis in my right knee that caused me to compensate and I ended up pinching my sciatic nerve. Bunch of cortisone shots in the knee and after physical therapy, and my power lifting dreams are pretty much over for now. So I decided if I cant get as strong as possible I wanted to get much bigger. I decided to take the plunge and do a cycle of test and put on some more size. I have a ton of trouble getting past 180ish. Even when I was powerlifting I couldnt get past 180 without just packing on fat.
 
Why isn't 1 inch good enough for glutres? When I use 1.5 I'm scared to go all the way in, don't wanna hit bone.

I should've said 1" isn't ideal for glutes... If your body fat is low enough you will be fine but if you are anywhere above 13% give or take, your just asking for problems. 1 1/2 for glutes to be safe. If you use 1" you risk the oil dispersing outside of the muscle (bc it wasn't pinned deep enough) and you will have lumps all over your ass.
