Here I was 4 days into it, thinking my CKD diet was going really well.... the first two days I ate chicken, steak and eggs as well as flaxseed oil.... and that was pretty much it. Which was fine, except I had to take shots of pure flax oil to fill my fat quota a lot of the time. And so I bought some 92% protein powder, with only 1.5% carbs. So I started making shakes, which were very convenient and not half bad tasting either. Protein powder, flax oil, some Splenda and unsweetened cocoa for extra flavour. When I had chicken or steak, I'd pan fry it with garlic and onion.
And for some reason, I always thought that unsweetened cocoa, onion and garlic had no carbs. And just a few minutes ago, I found out that they had enough carbs to have kept me out of ketosis.... and so all the flaxseed oil I was drinking was probably going straight into my abs.
So pissed off. My advice.... check the carb content of EVERYTHING you eat, right down to the small little things you add for flavour. Don't assume anything.
