New member
hey guys im 6' 1" and at 205-210 8-10% bf i havent did a cycle in about 8 months at which i was 235 10% bf (thats me in the picture during that time)

anyways i can pull 530 conventional and would like to try for 550
ive been doing 600 mid to lockout
i think what my sticking point is, are my legs i dont workout legs often

any suggestions on pulling 550 and maybe going for 600 in the future?

For dead help, glute ham raise, rev hyper or 45 degree raise if you have them. Also pulling against bands or chains, very low box squats, romanian deadlifts, good mornings, things like that .

I have limited equipment like that as well, I usually will do a good morning or squat variation followed by a romanian deadlift or partial dead then pull throughs and leg curls.

Really have to focus on form and posterior chain for decent gains.

Just go heavy all the time, so you can get your muscles used to the weight and your joints and tendons. The problem with me when i try to handle weight I cant get yet is it sticking right above my knee cap, that is my point.

Don't agree, afte prolonged stress, CNS won't recover.

When my deadlift went into the 500s it stalled for a long long time, granted i was not powerlifting at that time. The reason is mainly because you are probably not lifting to increase your deadlift, their are a few people in this world who can squat to get a better squat, and dead to get a better dead. Most of us need a plan and need to learn how to hit the weakness properly. Once i incorporated Reverse Hypers and deads off a platform i pulled 600 very quickly. Pull variations, and posterior chain work is what you need, and you need to learn how to make yourself stronger by learning your weakness and what exercises help those.

I was stuck in the 500's for along time!(Pullled conventional) After switching to a modified sumu(sp) style and incorperating more accessory work I just resently pulled 682. Try new stances and accessory exersices.

try to find an article by Eric Cressey, titled "Frequent Pulling for Faster AProgress: 12 Weeks to a bigger deadlift." He outlines an excellent 12 week training cycle that he used. the article is over at elitefts.com. if this link doesn't work, you should be able to find it somewhere over there in the articles section:

http://www.elitefts.com/documents/frequent_pulling.htm

good luck with the pull. I am at where you are. I pulled 600 from mid shin, and then got stuck 1/2 way with 550 from the floor. it doesn't make any sense that i would get stuck at the same place i can rack pull 50lbs more from. i am going to try out Eric's deadlift training cycle.

Best of luck again with the pull

Box squats where the box is below parallel. Also, do rack squats (feet positioned like a deadlift) with the weight on your shoulders like a squat. You start with the weight dead stopped on the pins and lift with your deadlift motion. Good mornings are also key. Dead stop them on pins before you go back up. You need to simulate the starting from a dead stop just like a DL as much as possible. That's what makes it different. You don't preload your muscles for it.

I'm 215 and got called for a hitch on my 600 lbs attempt to 2 weeks ago. I had the strength to make it and locked it out but my hips were a little slow.

If you have problem with sticking points, you have a lack in speed and explosive power. If the weight is moving fast enough there will be no sticking points. I agree with the chains and bands, low box squat, deads off a 6 inch box and NEVER leave out reverse hypers.
