6' 190-200lbs is not "buff/built"

BOWTECH

New member
I have to laugh when I hear people say my friend is 190-200 and 6' tall and man is he built or in a womans case "buff". I weigh 248 at 6' tall in this picture and I still consider myself one of the smaller guys.

No Im serious. People think someone is built and most of the time they are not. I was raised a man is supposed to be masculine. Not 180lb bean pole

That's when I was 248 I was up to 270 but my BP was way to high and I decided to come back down to around 250. Much easier on my body. Im also alot older than most people here....lol

post in for the non-plats to envy and learn how its done

I'm 5'10 205lbs and I don't consider myself big at all. Although I do know some people because they are so cut at around 6' 200lbs that makes them look a lot bigger. But I wouldn't consider anyone to be built unless they were in the 240 and up range where you are. You look pretty big and cut and would be considered a pretty big guy in my book. One of the biggest monsters I know is my friend Dave who is 6'4 295lbs and shredded..........my wife always says you look pretty big and then I met up with him and she came out and I was like see honey, thats what a big guy looks like lol. But by no means are you one of the smaller guys, maybe compared to power lifters but they are usually 300lbs and up. (Yes I know some are smaller so any power lifters that are its just a general statement don't get upset lol)

Nice post Bro...K your way....I just consider bodybuilding a lifestyle. I know I'll never be even close to the biggest. But it is nice being able to turn heads on the beach....lol.....At least I'll look good in my coffin  Thanks for the compliment.

Good to see you here....These other guys might fall for your BS but I wont..I know how your built (solid)...K my friend :)

You look pretty good bro! I guess everyone is on a different level.

My goal is to get to about 250 and cut down to 240 lean.

i agree with you if your 6ft tall and not over 200 lbs ur not "buff" you could be in good shape but ur not jacked

Dude ur yoked. Im 5'11 207 8-9% and turn alot of heads. U outweigh me by 40lbs so if you think you are a "smaller guy" then you are just as twisted as I.

702...Your definately a solid Bro... And to the others I am not fishing for compliments. I do not eat junk food or drink alcohol or go out to the bars etc... I have chosen this as my lifestyle. I just worry about some of the younger guys that ask "hey is it ok to drink on Dbol" etc... Compliments don't matter to me. It's all how I see myself in the mirror. I am my own judge and enemy!

Guys it's a lifestyle not a fad.

Me 2. But as bodybuilders we often have a distorted sense of ourselves. It is unfortunate but oh so true. Maybe it is our way of making ourselves push to the outer limits with training and such.. Who knows...

You're right 702, I'm not a bb, but the distorted view of ourselves is right on target, which can lead to destructive behaviors, such as being reckless with gear.

I agree. What i REALLY hate are the dudes at the pool or gym that weight like 140 and are just so skinny the little muscle they have pokes out of their skin and they think they are swolle. I HATE THEM. Im 5'7 adn the most i have weighed is 193 and thats with low bf. I was happy but untill i reach 200 not satsified...So i feel yea.

My body is a continual work in progress. I guess that most of us here can relate to that. Obviously, not everyone is going to make it to pro BB level, myself included. I just want to go as far as I can . Im into it hardcore, I live the lifestyle & love every minute of it. Presently 5'10", 220lbs, 9%BF. I not built, nor am I big but I can hold my own when need be.

selfcenter, i feel ya bro, im 5'8" and in the 180's right now and feeling small as shit. i hit that 200lb barrier this summer but with 12%bf and i was jsut starting to feel like i was of a decent size. cant wait to get up there again with a low bf%, my goal before 2009.
bowtech your a big bro in my book. i could only wish!

agree not buff at 6 ft. and you are a jacked mofo. i think alot of guys especially me see myself as never being big enough. shit im only 5' 10" and 200 with 10% bf and i get told im big and i turn heads but im bot even close.

With so many years working out, juicing, watching bigger people, going to bodybuilding shows, reading bodybuilding magazines, you get used to that look; you'll always look up, never down; that's why under your opinion, you'll always be small in front of the mirror. But believe me; for average joes, either skinny as a flag pole or fat as a cow, you are HUGE; and even a 6' tall 200 pounds of muscle is HUGE for them; because "pure muscle" is not "normal" on the streets; it takes a lot of sacrifice, discipline, hard work, sweat, years and years. They know that, because EVERYBODY has lifted a dumbell at one point of their lives; 99% of them fail the first day.

DJ you have hit on it I believe. Because we are never looking down we always have an opinion of ourselves as being smaller than others. I suppose for my "age" Im pretty big but I dont compare myself with people of my "age". I compare my self to 30 yr old pro BBers. LOL now I can compete in Masters Comps its a bit wacky in my head!

i just recently stopped feeling like this...

it's like a never ending cycle and it's completely unhealthy. i can't believe how much time i wasted stressing myself out over how i look...looking in the mirror all the time, flexing randomly. it's important to me still, and a source of my confidence and well being.. but in much more balanced way.

in anything, you'll never be the biggest, fastest, richest, smartest..whatever it is. there's always someone above you, just realize there are many many many more people on a level below you

makes me feel better when i start looking at average joes and the way they live/look. i'll never be ronnie or a fitness mag model...but i'll probably be healthier than them and happier

if you live trying to reach an unattainable goal with unrealistic expectations, you will not lead a happy life. constantly chasing something that you can not grasp is not fun, but enjoying the journey it takes to get there is a different story

i think most of get big/jacked to fix other problems in our life (self image, feeling of not being good enough, etc). i realized it helps...if it's done in a healthy way and for the right reasons, but will never cure the underlying issue if done for the wrong ones

strive for more, but appreciate how far you've come

Dude you are BIG and RIPPED. To be in the single digits of bf like you definately are at 248 at 6ft is seriously jacked. You have an elite competitive bodybuilder look, obviously not the size some of these monsters have (Coleman, Cutler, James, Yates etc.). but still huge and more appealing!!

AS SMOKEY SAID IN THE MOVIE "FRIDAY"
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN !

Yeah bro your pretty fucking big even in BB standards you'd be a good size. 190lbs to a common person at 6' if they are lean will be classified as big but if youre a weight trainer then there a stringbean!

all too many guys who think they are "buffed and cut" are just skinnnnnnnnnnnnnnny.

BS I'm 6 foot and 175 but I'm HUGE!! Lol jk bros I'm 6 foot 217 11% BF and ide like to be sitting at a solid 250 by the time I'm 29 or 30.

Im in the same boat as BOWTECH, I weigh 235 pounds at 8% BF (6') fuck I wish I was shorter, I look skinny with clothes on, I fucking hate it! Thats why im training till I get to 300 pounds!!!! No shitting

you were raised that a man should hypertan, shave all his body hair, don a manthong and prance on stage, be so insecure that you are constantly seeking reaffirmation of your "hugeness?"
to me that sounds the complete opposite of masculine.

I'll throw in an argument for the opposite opinion. Remember than Frank Zane won the Olympia at less than 190 pounds and looked pretty damn good doing it.

I've been over 200 but since I'm naturally slender I found I look and feel better (at this age) at around 190. I actually look bigger than when I'm heaviier because I have more seperation at that weight. I see a lot of guys who think they're bad motherfuckers who, to me, just look like they're fat.

lMAO....First of all I don't shave all my bodyhair, I don't compete so I don't wear "a manthong" or prance on stage. It amazes me that you seem to know an awful lot about the whole thing....That worries me.

You also need to give credit where credit is due. Just to be able to be in the shape to step onstage is an incredible feet. But to sit back and poke fun at those who do from your couch or a barstool is just plain foolish. You have no idea what it takes to maintain or build a physique like that. Then again that's called insecurity.

At the age of 45 I've decided I'm big enough. Not because I've reached the look of superhero massiveness that I invisioned for myself, but because I've become so uncomfortable at this weight that I'm no longer willing to suffer additionally for more size. I think Tren sides has as much to do with this discomfort as the actual size, but without the Tren I'd never be 317 (6'6")with visible abs IMO. Pic from last Sunday -

It's not like I have a future as a Mr. O competitior, or any chance of making a living as a profesional powerlifter. I do it for the love of the sports, and I get some ego satisfaction from freakin' the shit out of people with my size - lol.
After I've backed off 20 pounds perhaps my hunger will return?

imo, the definition of masculinity is more than just bicep size or how much you can squat.
character as well...150lb bean poles can command more respect than a big mofos and i've witnessed this first hand in sports

It depends on bodyfat, if someone's 200 and single digits then they will look great by most definitions. 200 fat or even average, is nothing. Nothing.

Watching the way people carry on in the gym it's the taller guys seem to have a problem with this, maybe because they have been called 'big' in one sense most of their lives so they don't get that the hockey player look really isn't 'jacked'.

serious.

you are way huger than i am but same age. trenbolone is not worth the sides in your bloodwork: increased BP, liver enzymes, and choleterol levels. at our age its not worth messing with this stuff. (or any age)

with the classic cycle of test/deca my bloodwork remains excellent.

Looking solid!

Im 6' roughly and 220. Im not as cut as I have been in my life, but I will say its definitely something psychological. When I was 160 lbs I was cut but I thought "man if I was 200 lbs Id be huge!" 200 lbs comes along and im not huge. "If I was only 220, thats extra 20 lbs I would be huge!" now Im 220....I need to drop about 10 lbs of fat to be down to what I look like in my pics, so I guess 210ish post fatloss and Im still not huge. So now I think "man 240 lean Id be huge"...

I guess the morale of the story is, theres always a bigger fish, and the bigger a fish you are the bigger the fish you compare yourself to.

dude your EXACTLY like me, i have the same problem, im 20 5"11 about 229lbs with about 12-13%bf i get stared at all the time, but i think im fukin VERY tiny

peace

All that counts is this....
Not masculine body builder chicks, but the truly hot pieces of ass out there....
well the uper 90 something percentile of those chicks, would prefer a cut and lean guy at 6'0" 200lbs than the guy 6"0" 250lbs.
I actually think very highly of those fucking guys, cu z I realize how much they bust their ass and how the dedication to high calorie intake as well as intense training to reacj that size is much easier said than done...
but the truth of the matter is, the large majority of hot women consider them meatballs and are much more attracted to an athletic and more lean and slender look.
Not to say there aren't a few hotties who go for the "house" look, but anyone who argues that most of the drop dead hotties prefer that are clearly drinking the Kool-Aide.

Point is this....those of you "tiny bean poles" walking around at 6' 200lbs and 9% BF shouldn't feel to bad about yourselves and question your masculinity as some of the posts suggest. I would bet my paycheck the majority of you are landing hotter vargina then the 6' 250 big dogs we got here.
(always exceptions to the rule, I am only speaking in %'s here)

I'm sure I'll get plenty of flack from the big dogs here despite me prefrecing that it's simply an observation based on expierence and general consensous.

Since you'll probably ask...

I am 5'10" and am currently at 190lbs and 9-10% BF
My largest stats were as a bouncer about 5 years ago and I was 5'10" 219lbs at about 12% BF (on EQ and D-Bol)

I without question, got pu$$y in much greater qty and quality at my current stats.

Alot of good replies her fellas. Im not trying to bash anyone. I do suffer from the Im never big enough syndrome. When I was at 270 I wanted to be 300. So yes I guess it's a never ending conquest to some of us.

The main thing that really matters is that you are happy with yourself. That's all that really matters at the end of the day. We are all different and have different views that's what makes this messed up world go round.

Thanks for all the replies. Stay safe my friends and enjoy life to the fullest. Were not here for a long time were here for a good time.

One last thing. I respect the obsession toward getting bigger and as a bodybuilder I think you have to go through that stage. But we all have a limit. A lot of these really big guys had the frame to support it. I've see bodybuilders who are big, but not so much from lifting weights. They're guys who lift weights who are just big anyway. I know I couldn't carry 260. No way no how, no matter how much I trained, ate or juiced. It'd look stupid.

And yes, I know some powerlifter guys don't care about the "pretty boy muscles" but as far as I'm concerned it's all about looking good and feeling good, not how much I can lift or how much space I take up. I grew up at a time when you worked out to look like a god, not a house. I wanted to impress the girl on the step master, not the guys in the squat rack.

You're a beast of course, and will probably continue to grow.

I agree he's kind of on the small size, but I think this guy's pretty "built".

http://www.bossip.com/uploaded_images/reggiebush1-705542.jpg

6' 205
thats the prime example of awsome genetics.
Full abs, cannon ball delts, full muscle bellies

Still if he was wearing a regular old tshirt he would not even appear to have a build at all.

Thats usually the way it goes becuase the midsection is so small most guys with awsome builds have to wear fitted clothes and tucked in shirts to really show of their build.
Why the more massive guys fill out a shirt all over and appear to be bigger in Tshirt.
The more muscualr guys often look better with the shirt off then on
