I'm getting dunked on Monday morning. I will post up the results.
They are going to use the calipers first. Then they will dunk me ten or so times to get a good average.
This should be interesting!

Got dunked this morning in Nashua NH at a place called CPTE. It cost $50. The test with calipers and then dunk you quite a few times. It was pretty wild. I never realized how uncomfortable I am under water without air. When you go under you have to blow all the air out of your lungs. You brain does not want you to do it. Each time I went under I got more and more out. I could tell I had more in me but my body would not let me force it out.
The test results are being emailed to me by tomorrow morning the latest. I will post them up when they are in.
Its kind of funny. I am all worked up wondering if all the caliper tests I have done in the past are way lower than they should have been... LOL
The guy told me the lowest he has seen is 4.1% on a runner.
They have tested bber's in the past. He said a few have been as low as 10%. I have always heard that bber's actually have more fat then you think... that calipers say 3 to 4% when it is really 7 to 8% when dunked.
Anyway. I hope I am at least below 11%. I will be very disappointed if I am higher.
I am flat as hell right now. Looks like I dropped 8lbs over the weekend too. I checked in at 228 on the scale... the horror... LOL.

I'm glad that ^^ was brought up. IMO, you can't absolutely rely on a caliper reading and by no means get bent on that number, esp when you look as good as you do in your sig. There are many variables that can throw that figure off & the results can just ruin some people. It's just another data point to track your progress, but it may not always go your way.

I hope for you it does.

ITS NOT THAT THE CALIPERS ARE UNREALIABLE. They measure different things. Their accuracy is not 1000% because its a skin fold measure, even the ones the try to eliminate the water aspect of the skin fold. They ONLY measure skin fold. The BodPod / dunk tank measures your body's displacement of water - this allows you to account for internal fat as well - the stuff that is around your organs. Also it is not dependent at all on inaccuraciesi inherent in the pinch method.

COMMENTS: There is a discrepancy between the underwater and skinfold results. The human factor clearly plays a role in the skinfold measurement (Is the size of the pinch consistent? Are the calipers placed in the correct spot? Are the calipers slipping during measurement?). I believe the underwater results are good and the result is accurate. From a visual perspective, the underwater results make more sense.
 
Huh? I have 8 abs showing while I am just standing there and I am 15%. So much for being at 10% to see all your abs.
This is beyond depressing!!!!
 
Slat. I'm at 10%, trying to get down to 6%. Now is the time to do it for me. Summer is coming and I'm at the lake wake boarding, counting calories in my Miller Lights...HE-he-he.

Well my reasons for not going by the percentages are good, keeps my ego afloat, lol.... I think i'll stick the the mirror test!

I will get there. Hopefully, having low test levels will not slow me down too much.
I am going to start taking some supplements in April. Right now it is just whole foods and protein.
I should probably do some cardio too :(
 
Yowwzzaa's... and thats the most accurate test.. looks like we're all 3-5 % more than we think we are, in that case im like 37%! LOL. ill stick with the skin fold, lol.

I hate doing cardio, although I got a new Ipod for Christmas that will definitely help with the monotony.

I'm aware most of us here at EF adhere to a different standard, but you are quite lean my friend... yeah to get leaner I can see a good amount of cardio, or hardcore dieting in your future.

one CAN drop bf just by dieting... with zero cardio.

Simple equation: calories in < calories out.
 
True. My diet is spot on now. I am just flat as hell from low carbs.
I will be in shape by June the latest.
 
You look great man (in a straight way of course ;)) dont be so hard on yourself , wouldnt worry about the numbers too much its what you see in the mirror that counts, but anyways good luck in reaching your goals im sure you will get there.
 
I did a little over ten minutes of cardio last night after doing quads.
I plan on doing 20 minutes tonight. Its an off night.
I have finally reached the point of "acceptance" when it comes to being a fatty. How sad! :(
 
Oh come on now... self loathing doesn't get you anywhere except mowing down a jug of Bon-Bons.

When you feel down... just look around, in your office or outside, ect... find someone that you feel is "fatter" and remember that they probably have no intentions of changing. You're a better man for having a drive of self improvment.

well, no offense slat, but STOP YOUR FUCKING WHINNING...

for God's sake man, you're worse than a self concious woman... no offense to the ladies here, they all seem to be comfortable with themselves...

oddly enough it looks like you might carry more fat in other areas of your body besides your abdominal area... i'm not even sure if that is possible, but that's the way it looks from the pic...

anyhow, the underwater test counts all the fat in your body as others have mentioned (i.e. fat around organs), that's why the number is higher... i'd stick with the 11.7% you got from the skinfold, and be happy with that for the moment...

good luck going forward... you'll probably feel better once you carb up again...
 
I tend to whine about this type of stuff. I do it until I piss myself off. I am there. Now I am focused on getting to where I want to be.
My arm is feeling a little better too. I did biceps the other day and it did not hurt as bad as it usually does. I will continue to go easy on it but I will slowly up the pounds.
Since I am having trouble getting as lean as I would like while dieting hard I am going to put some muscle back on and see how lean I can be back at 240ish.
 
I did cardio yesterday. 15 minutes on the eliptical and 20 minutes on the treadmill. Its a start. I feel pretty good today.

hanging leg raises - 3 sets, good from - as many clean reps as possible
ab ball - 3 sets, good from - as many clean reps as possible
crunches - 3 sets, good from - as many clean reps as possible
*I only do one exercize per day.
 
Hey Slat quit worrying about what some test says. It's what you see in the mirror that is the ultimate determinate. I weigh myself once a week at the most and check my bf% every six months or so.

I would love to have your midsection bro. You are leaps ahead of other guys and gals in that area. Concentrate more on your chest, legs, arms and back. If the rest of your body was a defined as your abs (right now) then you would be a force my friend.

I hear you. I think since my left bicep tendon had a partial tear... then the right tendon... I have been focusing on bf since I have not been able to hit the heavy weights. My back and biceps have shriveled.
I am doing my best to get my delts up. They are lagging so bad. My chest is pretty flat right now too.
I have added second carb meal a day. Two days in and I am up five pounds already. No noticeable fat gain. I am assuming its water in the muscle or something.
Two people at the gym commented I was looking bigger too... LOL.
240 with abs here I come.
 
236 still. A couple of guys said I was getting bigger.. LOL. All I am doing different is adding in a second carb meal a day.
Chest, Tri's, calves today.

LOL! Thanks. Day 2, IN DA BOOKS! It feels great. My diet is 98% clean starting off. I'll get it to 100% clean with a cheat day, in a couple weeks. We're gonna be single digit bf Mofos for da summer Slatl.
 
slat I have just been back 5 weeks, been doing cardio for first time in 9 months, i do hiit and normal cardio mixed in the am, weight in pm, i love the hit, seems like you maintain muscle real good
 
I eat really well. I learned a long time ago that your diet drives all your results.
My problem is that I don't eat enough carbs so I don't really grow like I could. Much like everyone else I am still learning my body.
I know this much. I hate cardio but it works.. LOL
I skipped the gym last night due to getting out of work late.
Quads are on tap for tonight. At least 20 minutes of cardio too.
 
good job slat. right now im missing the gym, because i think ive pulled my chest muscle, its pritty damm sore and im not talking about , after a good work out sorta way. :worried: ill need to catch up tomorrow

238 today. I am actually looking more lean then I did at 230.
I may add a sweet potato with dinner for some carbs.

You may be right. I am thinking about holding off on the sweet potato for a bit. I would like to see where I wind up in a week or two then re-evalute.

Hopefully, I will eat enough over the weekend. Generally, I am lazy as hell and don't eat much so I lose a few pounds.
Abs are still there. Obliques have not become more clear or less clear. I can kind of see the... if the light is right.. LOL
 
LOL! This weekend, my carb cheat is going to be 2 scoops of rice instead of 1 scoop with my L&L BBQ plate.Yuuuuum...

I start my program/season by doing cardio and stretching only for 2 weeks. After that, I get into da groove with da iron and da intensity. Dats how I roll bra.
 
Gonna do some cardio in a few. Damn. It feels great to get the juices flowing again (no pun intended)...Ha-ha-ha.

My bloodwork came back. My test levels dropped again. I am down to 300 ng/dl. I am not very happy at the moment.
 
You still bummin' bro? I thought we agreed it was too early to be so critical. Too soon to be down over bloodwork and lb's. A little trial and error at this point. Dont forget the mood equation. When BF is low, nuerotransmitters I think can affect how your body responds, reacts, utilizes supplements, etc.
 
I am meeting with the endo on Thursday. It will be interesting to see what she has to say.
I hardly ate all weekend. I cheated bad on Sunday. Funny thing is I looked lean. I found out why today. I dropped to 234. I will probably be back to the 240's by tomorrow though.
 
Legs today. I really need to motivate. I am making slow but steady progress on leaning out. I just have not fully committed to cardio though.
If my bicep tendon would heal up it would give me all the motivation I need to start hitting it hard again.
I am going to step on the scale tonight to see where I am at.

Motivation is low.
Today is an off day. Hopefully, I will get my act together. I am skipping a few meals a day.
I am not sure what the story is. It could be the change in the weather. It could be my low test levels.
 
Cheer up buddy, what I (and many guys on this board) wouldn't give to have a midsection like yours!!

As far as motivation goes, when i was single a good one night stand always jacked my confidence.....

But asides that spring is here, weather will get better, the sun is good for anyones mood, i find a quick fake tan even boosts my energy sometimes. Get a good nights sleep hit your am cardio and/or a good am lift and you'll be set for the day!
 
Keep da faith brotha. I got your back. Keep banging it. I'm struggling too. Its rained here everyday for the last 2 weeks straight, and its cold. Its hard to for me to keep the motivation level up, because at this level, my positive gains arent as noticble. I've got my head to the sky, eyes closed and I'm fucking doing it! Period! Keep it going.

It snowed here today.
I did just order some more Beverly protien. That stuff is by far the best. I am glad I finally stepped to the plate and got more.

I think I am going to buy a new trash can on the ride home.. LOL.
