I don't understand why people rave about this stuff and spend so much money on it.

The ear ringing, prominent heart beat, head spinning, distant outlook/perception of reality and general vacantness isn't worth the money or time.

And then you start eating garbage after, which isn't good. At least if you're an EFr.

All really pointless.

Personally, if anything, I would much rather just have a few drinks. It's much easier to control the effects of (to an extent) alcohol. Not to mention completely legal.

I understand many people use mind-altering or mood enhancing drugs as a form of self-medication for various reasons. But I think a lot of people who do, esp those who smoke weed, (particularly the young) just do it to gain the social approval of their peers. So they can rebel and say 'hey guys look at me, i'm getting hiiiigghhh'. It's quite sad many people are so irresponsible and misuse any substance in such a way.
 
Weed is a joke and I like the punks that do it so much and they sound like fuckin burnouts...nice lives

I've never had any of that happen to me when I've smoked pot. Sounds like you don't know what the fuck you are talking about, especially painting alcohol to be a better alternative.

everyone reacts completely uniquely to weed, and drugs for that matter (including alcohol). i've seen people who fall asleep when they take stimulants, and others who can't sit still for a nano second.

i tend to be more on the paranoid/unproductive side when i smoke, but i still do smoke at times. i don't *always* feel like that. sometimes i smoke and feel great, laugh my ass off and end up being extremely funny and creative.

other times i feel bad and start thinking about all the things that weigh on me. but overall the good times outweigh the bad, especially if i smoke when i don't have anything to do for the rest of the day

drinking alcohol inhibits protein absorption and fat burning for up to 60 hours, depending on how much was drank. could be longer if it is a binge style drinking session. weed is a better alternative for bbers than alcohol if you need something to unwind with.
 
I love herb. I think it has a time and place though. I have no problem with it so long as someone can put work before play. You can eat clean when you have the munchies too. When you're drinking you're already messing with your diet. I'd say alcohol although I drink too causes a lot more problems than weed does! Violence car accidents getting girls pregnate (possibly fat or ugly ones) and even death! You never see a guy who wants to fight you cause hes high! in fact that might just be what alpha needs to chill out around the ladies! I will say that useless stoners who do nothing but smoke pot all day and dont work get on my nerves though!
 
Neither are good. But I've seen (and have experienced) how devastating alcohol abuse can be. If you "need" something chemical to unwind, there are issues that need to be addressed either way.

things that are boring in life become more enjoyable with a little greenage

I've tried, it just doesn't work for me. I'd rather drive sober so long as I'm awake.
I will say though, that I feel like shit being alcohol deprived in a club, bar or a party(also vegas) where others are drunk.

Smoked weed for about 15 yrs. Still take a toke every now and then, usually when drinking with my neighbors.

I do agree that weed is much better for you than alcohol. Just not as fun IMO.

Original poster, thank you for sharing your opinion, which is based heavily on personal preference (although you go beyond merely stating that you don't like it, and instead disparage its use in general).

I smoke as a crutch, because life is empty and boring for me. With or without it, I don't care about much, or do much. So, if I'm sitting on my couch, might as well get stoned.

I do find, however, that it's bad for me in just about every way imaginable.

You know i've been doing some thinking and have realised anyone who needs to resort to using any form of intoxicants is obviously missing something in their lives. People drink alcohol and smoke pot when they're not comfortable with who they are; they're not happy at least about certain aspects of their lives. So these drugs provide a mild eupohria which allows them to escape from their problems, alsas only for a short time.
Such escapism is a cowards way out though. The only worthwhile thing to do in such a predicament is to resolve the underlying issues which are driving you to use drugs to make you feel good about yourselves.

And I don't mean to sound self-righteous when I say any of the above, as I myself admit I have used the said substances as a form a self-medication in the recent past. This is just a personal observation. And the waves of binge-drinkers who swarm the night clubs around here tend to be primarily from low socio-economic, working class backgrounds. Coincidence?

Well first off it's more expensive than xanax, and two....it works about less than half as well. Xanax is about the most benign benzo so there is worse, but benzo's in general should be outlawed. If it weren't for the pharm lobby those drugs would never have a shot at making it to market.

If the social costs weren't being pushed onto everyone else, I'd be all for legalizing every drug.

The Libertarians have it right, but with one caveat: Once taxpayer money is used on something, it should give everyone the right to vote on it. If you take gubment money, Uncle Sam should be drug testing you, assigning you random work (i.e. picking up trash along roadsides) and even telling you how to live your life (i.e. mandatory spiritual counseling). And if you don't like it, then don't take the gubment money.

and there are no societal costs to marijuana smoking. The argument that marijuana smokers are sitting at home leeching off of govt. care is ridiculous. Those people would be huffing paint or 92 octane from a sock and doing the exact same thing. At least the marijuana is keeping them inside..:whatever: The societal benefits of legalizing marijuana far exceed the costs. The reason they don't legalize it is because it would help with so many different aspects of the human condition who's current dysfunction is a major source of industry/profit. That's all. Alcohol is legal because you can't grow coors light in your backyard and it leads to so much misery and dysfunction all of which there are prepared remedies and treatments for that are also a major source of profit. That's just the way the world is. None of us have each others best interests in my mind, that world is long gone.

I think it would be more the money. Jobs would still be there cause people would still be getting those illeness's and would have to be treated. There's no "wonder pill" that's going to take stuff like that down, only "treatments" that you have to go through to bring the body back up to where it should be. Getting rid of stuff like that doesn't happen overnight and never will. Magic is a prime example. Whatever he was doing, after a couple years it was out of him......and that's cause he had the money to do it. The high end profits from the drugs though would dry up for sure and that's why there will never be a cure.

its not a matter of strong vs mild that makes it dangerous, its the short to medium half life. Makes people who might abuse medication all the more likely to pop one after another.
