I'm happy! I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea!

I honestly am happy. I have had so many physical and mental ailments for a long time. They had been progressing at a fast rate over the past 3 years, especially the last 6 months. I had zero energy, the only way that I am able to do anything is by taking drugs (Both legal and illicit use of RX drugs). I reached a point where the only way to go to work is by taking caffeine pills by the handful. That much caffeine caused my anxiety level to go through the roof and has brought back my panic attacks. On Saturday and sometimes Sunday I will sleep 20 hours and still feel tired. I was suicidal for a while. Now I have a definite diagnosis that explains all of my ailments and best of all it can be treated! I'm feeling more energetic now just simply by knowing that there's hope. I'm probably going to need a breathing mask connected to a machine during sleep. I could not believe the results of my sleep study. I averaged 21 apneas per hour. Some of them lasted as long as 45 seconds. It's amazing just how much poor sleep can mess up your life.

I snore really bad, and feel like absolute ass upon waking. Headaches, sinus pressure.
My wife wants me to do something about it also.
I have been using nasal strips to help, I'd say it gives me about a 25-40% improvement in feeling upon waking up sometimes.
Sometimes I still feel like shit

I have mild sleep apnea. I've had my CPAP machine about a week and a half. Still getting used to it. My sleep is gradually improving.

21 incidents/hour isn't that bad.

But sleep apnea still sucks.

Take some time and get your mask straight. The wrong mask will really mess you up. Consider NoMask.com Official Site - CPAP PRO® - No Masks, No Straps, No Headgear - CPAP PRO® Is A Comfortable CPAP Mask For Sleep Apnea Patients and CPAP Machine Users. We Ship Worldwide. -- I'm trying this one right now and so far, so good.

Keep water in your machine or the dry air will really make your nose and throat raw.

Try to avoid sleeping pills with your machine. It's an easy-out, but taking a pill every single day will really mess you up long-term.

You'll hate your machine at first. Just keep using it.

They have a card in your machine that records how much you're using it. Try every night or they can tell when you're not.

Good luck! I love my machine, but it's taken me almost two years to learn how to use it.

What I've read is that 5 incidents is mild, 50 is severe so I'm around the middle. There's also your blood oxygen concentration to factor in but I can't understand this report well enough to figure out where I stand. It's written in doctor language. I'll have to wait until Wednesday to talk to my PCP.
