I'm happy! I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea!

I snore really bad, and feel like absolute ass upon waking. Headaches, sinus pressure.
My wife wants me to do something about it also.
I have been using nasal strips to help, I'd say it gives me about a 25-40% improvement in feeling upon waking up sometimes.
Sometimes I still feel like shit

as we get older.. it can lead to a stroke..

just sayin

What I've read is that 5 incidents is mild, 50 is severe so I'm around the middle. There's also your blood oxygen concentration to factor in but I can't understand this report well enough to figure out where I stand. It's written in doctor language. I'll have to wait until Wednesday to talk to my PCP.

150/hour can happen. I think I was low-50's per hour and while they said I needed a machine, they weren't freaking out.

exactly. 21/hr isn't too bad.

I had 9 partial blockage incidents/hr., and they didn't consider it worthy of a machine or surgery.

sleep apnea can lead to a lotta gnarly stuff

Yup -- it is part of a vicious pathological cycle that includes heart disease and obesity. One thing reinforces the other and now we're not really sure of the sequence of events.

I think there's probably more to it than just the total number of apneas. The duration of each event would have to be factored in. If you had nine incidents per hour lasting 10 seconds you would be in a lot better shape than someone with 9 incidents per hour lasting 45 seconds.

Ok, nobody worry, Dr. Puddle is here with your diagnosis'.

i worry i have the same disease

I'd worry more about your ILS.

me too. been meaning to get a sleep study done

There's a reason your body struggles to sleep 12 hours a night. You're confusing laziness with sleep apnea.

I snore really bad

That's just the surplus of fat clogging your airways.

I have mild sleep apnea. I've had my CPAP machine about a week and a half. Still getting used to it. My sleep is gradually improving.

Placebo effect.

Let the real internet doctors handle this please. This is how rumors start, people speaking about things they don't understand or can't comprehend.

I just had this talk with Chris.

Now I have a definite diagnosis that explains all of my ailments and best of all it can be treated! I'm feeling more energetic now just simply by knowing that there's hope

I really hope treating this makes you feel a lot better. It seems to me like you have some mental/emotional issues that go beyond sleep. I don't know your situation obviously, but you sound just like me 3 years ago. I have been there before, and believe me trying to find things wrong with you is never going to get you anywhere good. I thought my life had hit a dead end, and when i realized it didn't need to be like that and made some big changes, all the symptoms i thought i had went away.
