Electric stimulation pads

OK. I have read lots about these, seen the ads etc. I came to the conclusion that they are a waste of money and don't work.

I was telling my boyfriend last night that I was going to be doing more cardio and tightening my diet up because my tummy was getting a bit podgy again. He suggested I get some of those stick on electric pad thingies. I tried to tell him they don't work but he didn't believe me. He says that there would be loads of them in the 2nd hand shops if they were useless as people tried to get rid of them. He agreed they were for lazy people but thinks they work for the 'housewife' who wants to drop a dress size.

Can anyone give me some more information about this equipment to convince him, or me if I am wrong. Has anyone used them?

He also had the same idea about an abdominal roller we saw in a magazine ad, you know the one you roll across the floor whilst on all fours. He does't see why it wouldn't work especially since the ad was in a supplement in 'broad sheet' sunday newspaper, he can't believe this intellectually directed paper would allow anything that was a scam to be advertised in it.

Please help me either way.

(by the way I am already a bber who understands nutrition/exercise, I just lack the arguments to convince someone else who believes the media)

The purpose of media is to sell stuff - no matter how intellectual they may appear, money is the bottom line. If the advertiser is a "legitimate" business (hasn't been blatantly caught for fraud or something or doesn't pedal pornography or post porn), it "deserves" a place on the page of a newspaper or a late night info mercial or the best ad slot during the Super Bowl. Money Talks.

But that said, media is used for advertisement - caveat emptor!
