too much BS with biased mods.. there needs to be printed rules and thats all that is enforced. there's no way in hell to keep this board undercontrol with people coming to it. It will be extremely boring (more than now) and customers will leave real fast!

If we're talking about flaming and name calling, then we should all be honest with ourselves and admit that NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCE, the weak will always be protected from above. It's the fundamental flaw in most human interactions. Crying (in all its forms) evokes a typical pattern of behavior in those that believe they need to be the Almighty Protector. Instead of approaching the situation with logic and emotional maturity, they automatically move into "must make the crying person feel better, must hurt the 'provokers'" mode. And as we've seen a million times, this rarely works because it completely ignores the true issues and protects poor decision makers and antagonists. We all know the best example of this around here. Look how that's turning out, lmfao. So yeah, "if people get their feelings hurt b/c they join a flame, fuck them" is great in a realistic environment, but you'd be hard pressed to find such a place.

Also, wtf am I talking about? Am I even awake right now?

I pretty much still work East Coast hours. I'm up at like 5/5:30 and working each day. But then I can hit the gym at 2ish, which is awesome. And it's not like I have to get dressed or even shower for work, so I just roll outta bed.

It tremendously sucks when I do work West Coast hours and check my email at 9am my time only to see 50 emails to sort thru. Not a good way to start the day.

It can't be me. I mean, I am scheduled to be biased until Febuary. I am committed to being racist the rest of this month. And then I am going to be shady for the whole month of January. Then biased in Feb.

I don't hawk products or sponsors.

I will admit that I support AG Guys and one other simply because IT WORKS. That's all. I am not telling you that there is not anything else out there just as good (because I haven't tried others) but I will tell you that it definately worked for me.

I have been here, what?, six years and only spoke up regarding two products that I liked. That's not a bad record.

As a matter of fact there are sponsors/products here that I vehemently dislike and would never recommend them.

If you notice someone - mod or not - being biased towards one product, that should be a clue not to seek out their opinion but rather ask someone else.

The "shock" effect wears out, in that the people who are doing it get bored with it sooner or later, or the community brings them into line themselves ... and let's face it, once in a while even the most gentile of us like something salacious.

C&C runs through cycles, it's more active in the winter months with people indoors and bulking :lmao: but IMO if you start too much censorship you're going to smother it and the community will stop working.

One of the reasons most of us are here is because we're treated like grownups, not like a bunch of little kids with a bunch of rules to follow.

Just my $0.02.
 
I know of one successful working model for a 'fight club' forum. The site's administrator allows a no-hold's barred environment (but obviously NOT posting illegal content) within said forum, scolds whiners who enter and advises them to back out slowly, but also bans members who choose to carry a fight club thread onto the general boards. Seems to work fine, sure the fight forum forges enemies which tend to spill onto other parts of the site, but as said, the adminstrator/mods then offer the offendents a probation or permanant ban.

Back in WWII, a lot of country bumpkins got introduced to hygiene quickly, courtesy of the US Army. Looks like Elite is filling that role now. Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't get stuck in Chat and would just move on to our "medical issues" or "style and grooming" boards.

Sometimes I think we provide a valuable public service by providing reassurance to those of you who are unsure about what's "normal" or were never taught how to use indoor plumbing with confidence.

Other times I think that's just asking too much of our mods. Let's face it, the supply of patient teachers who are willing to mentor adults on the proper use of toilet paper is limited.

About "put all rules in writing" -- nope. That way lies madness. I sympathize if you are sincere about wanting to know where you stand, but there are others (most of you know who they are) who will pounce on anything that claims to be a comprehensive list and go wild finding loopholes to exploit. I'm not about to play into their hands. "We reserve the right to serve refuse to anyone" and that's how it's going to stay.

I'm not sure which mod you think is biased (since we know it's not me or my alter), but if you think he has some ulterior motive when he gives advice- then don't listen to those posts.

a set of rules is difficult, as digger said, because it means that the people who need them, will also try to find loopholes in them.
Most people don't really need a set of rules to follow- they know common decency and if they step outside the unspoken set of rules once in a blue moon, it's not so bad as the guy who is constantly looking to do it just because he can.

Even if it was cut&pasted from another board (who's motivation may be suspect), the point of the study is still valid. It contradicted PP's claims and I would have liked to have seen his response rather than have it quickly recycled. PP's a smart guy and I am sure he could have come up with a well-reasoned response to the claim. By sweeping it under the rug it smacks of favoritism. Which is something one of the mods was cautioned about before he accepted the position.

hmmmm Just a bit of backpedaling I see. Ill give you that it might have been one of your objections but it was clearly not you or some other members only objection. Well, I thought so until I saw that. I also I thought I was pretty clear as to my reasons why.
When I clearly explain myself for certain actions and someone either doesn't believe me, or doesn't take my word for it and turns around and takes a jab at me...

I knew you were at the time. I got your k msg but passed the hell out. I don't know what the hell I was doing up that late any way. 2am and we were almost the only ones left posting. I was thinking I would get to it in the morning but then got busy and forgot.

That stuff gets repeated all day everyday by quite a few members. I say it someitmes too, although rarely - mostly just to egg them on. I might say other meaningless drivell that others don't like - I am not sure.

What diff does it make? I just ignore the posts threads that don't interest me. I made some posts in here that you didn't like - I was making a point.

Just ignore it if you don't like it. I mean if someone is instigating a race riot or they are running off your targeted advertising demographic - then yeah, you gotta do something about - but short of that - who cares.

Seems to me you will just run off more members by decided what they shold and should not talk about. Just let the posters of the forum decide for themselves what they want to talk about - no matter how juvinile.

Whats unfortunate is that the group of people who are supposedly offended by what goes on in the C&C crowd, did not make a showing.

So there are suppose to be dozens of folks who would like to see a change, I have only gotten 2 K messages and thats been about it.
