I'm just stating a fact, not making a political statement. Here are some more facts:
While there is an 18.5 cents per gallon excise tax imposed by the federal government, the majority of taxes on gasoline are at the state and municipal level. As such, they have little role in paying for the war.
Additionally, no new gas taxes have been enacted by the federal government since the Iraq war.
Which leads us unavoidably to this fact: Gas taxes have zero role in financing the war.
