someone explain to me why iraqi's are only paying 5 cents a gallon for gas

Stop buying huge gas guzzling vehicles you don't need and start writing your elected representatives indicating your desire to see oil dependency end. Until you do that, stop the whining.

My gf drives a 96 Civic and gets about 30mpg.

I drive an 03 Civic and get about 34mpg.

Both cars drink 89 octane.

I'm entitled to bitch about gas prices considering I burn 1 tank of gas a week and she burns 2 sometimes. A fillup from empty costs me $22 now and costs her $20. I don't have to be spending $40 at the pump every time to be pissed off about the gas prices, but people that drive trucks and SUVs "just because" don't have too much right to bitch about the gas prices. You bought it, you knew it wasn't going to get more than 18mpg, you should be prepared to pay the price. I drove an older S-10 Blazer for 2 years that got 16-18mpg. I knew gas wasn't going to be cheap, I spent $30 (sometimes more) at the pump. That's the price you pay for having a truck or an SUV, the same as buying a boat and paying for the upkeep (boat = hole in the water you throw money into).

None of the above statements are directed at anyone that NEEDS a truck/SUV/Van for business purposes, but that you should be able to swing as a tax writeoff anyway.

What are you doing in the way of promoting an end to oil dependency?

What is that doing to end our oil dependency? Not deriding the choice, it's a good one and is one part of the 2 items I initially mentioned.

I own 2 Hondas.

I don't even know who my representatives are.

But if you happened to notice, I was supporting your arguement of people buying huge gas hogging SUVs and Trucks when they don't NEED them. Like my gf's mother who has a 4 door Exploder. WTF does she NEED an Exploder for? Not a damn thing. Before the Exploder, they had an older Exploder and a Ford Fuckus. Now they have a new Exploder and a V6 Ranger.

Oh yeah, when we were moving and picking up a stove from them, her stepfather didn't want to use his Ranger to haul it over to our place, so instead, we had to shove it into the back of our Blazer. Real nice use of a pickup, huh?

I am actively trying to consume ALL the world's oil through using both large and inefficient vehicles and enormous residences in warm climates.

Doing my part, that's me. ;)

Conservation prolongs dependence. I like oxygen.

I noticed and agree 1000%.

You already know how much I disagree with that :)

I agree with you too to an extent.

If china, us and india all "conserved" -- it would drop demand for oil. And with less demand -- prices would fall.

Someone explain why this isn't a desirable scenario?

Because we'd be stuck with oil longer.

Consume Consumer Consume. Drive the price UP. Only high prices will spur governments and corporations to act to develop alternatives.
