Our prices are high -- cuz us dumbasses can afford it, and will continue paying for it. Gas Stations are one of a handful of retail outlets, where higher prices don't affect their bottom line. I don't know any in my city who are going out of business.
In Iraq -- If the price there was the same as here -- no one could afford it. Point blank. With no one buying it, there'd be no profits for the companies. Hence why they set it to a level that is suitable for that area (plus they *can* do it -- since there's no taxes, and lot less shipping and refinement costs. Our gas isn't the same as theirs).
Free Markets set prices (with a hand in the cookie jar thanks to the government). Even *we* here in the US have a ceiling. If it gets too high that it gets to national crisis-level -- amazing how alternatives would get created in response.
Like the oil crisis 20 years ago. Amazing how it created a whole new trend of more efficient non-gas-guzzling cars in response.
This is the GOP's trade off to keep them happy for killing tens of thousands of their woman and children.
I wouldn't get to upset about it though, I think theres only like 7 iraqis that own cars anyhow-lol.
My irk (yes I understand commodities) is when a gas station has already purchased 50,000 gallons of gas at last weeks price and 1 minute later it's worth 2x as much. Rotten mother fukers!
