Woot! New Deadlift PR +Videos :)

thriller said:
seeing your pics coolcolj. you have a bit of bf to lose. and if you did you would weigh alot less. then if you were pulling those weights. that would be unreal. but i remember you saying you want to be jumping crazy carrying some weight so that when you lose it you will be jumping way higher.
are you on a diet still for cutting?
im thinking of getting on a little one to lose a bit of fat. youv seen my pics do you think i should?

I'm just mainatining my bodyfat levels at the moment. Not too fussed with it at present. I could probably lose 15lbs of fat. But I intend to get way stronger and more explosive than I currently am :)
I won't be dieting to lose fat, just good old sprint intervals.

Your way leaner than me. I don't think you need to get any leaner, but the choice is yours.

here is one more pic - you can see my calves :)
They have grown 0.5 inches over the last 4 weeks

I apologoize, but I will have to back out of this "competition" for the immediate moment.
My wife went into labor late Monday night, and 12 hours later, I am the very proud father of a 7lbs 8oz miniature Joker.:D :D :D

I will post my results when I get back into my gym.

Thanks,
Joker

Joker...proud of you my friend. When ya gonna email me again about how your training is going...and the job? :)

I still want a raw 700...

What grip technique are you using?

Mixed grip? Hook grip?

I did some heavy B.B. rows the other day trying the hook grip I use for snatches - crushes your thumb a little - but the weight stays in your hand.

Joker - whats the bet the little critter comes out deadlifting? :D

Thanks Heavygear

mekannik - I used a mxied grip, and even then it was startting to slip a bit. I'm gonna beef up my grip big time before I attempt 500lbs!

I'm gonna start doing my weighted chins on a power rack. The square frame won't allow you to full wrap your hands around the bar. Also I'll be doing 12 second static holds with 315 lbs and then work up to 405 using a normal grip. My grip should be sorted for 500lbs in 2 months I think.

I'm not sure if a hook grip and 405+lbs would stay in my hand at the moment :)

Thank you.:) And you have mail......

CoolCoJ> Ya know if he did, all he would have to pull to win this contest is 22.5lbs. He would beat us all with a 3x pull.:D

I keep watching your power clean video for reference...

Actually Bfold my PowerClean video is not that great from a form point of view if you wanna be fussy.

Because the weight was on the lighter side and a warmup of sorts for the deadlifts, I held back a bit. I posted the vid for critque on the Dr Squat forum, and I got valuable feedback from some trainer/coach types.

A few things I didn't do right, I bent my arms too early, I should have pulled with the traps harder (arms straight), and thrust my hips forward and get more on my toes. The next vid I post with a more training % weight while be a better guide :)
Heavier weight means I have to bend my legs more on the catch and jump and extend harder.

Still they said it was pretty good for a self trained Power Cleaner :D
And it does show where most of the power should be coming from - hips and legs. The way I do it is more for training effect, Olympic Lifters would do it differently. Its only when you want to maximise your PR should you really get to the finer details.

I hope to have some hang clean, power snatch and other vids shortly.
