Will my luggage that i check with the airline be checked for Beer?

I was going to bring some beer and alcohol with me on the cruise to the Carribean that i am going on so i don't have to pay an arm and a leg for alcohol on the boat.

My question to you in if the airline will check and confiscate my alcohol.

I know i could get this on the plane before 9/11 but now i am skeptical.

What do you think? Have any of you done this?

More than likely. I have flown 6 times since 9/11. The last flight I took seemed to be more relaxed though( In means of security.) I would'nt worry about the liquor. Beer is alot more obvious.

and just make sure you secure the bottles... those guys just toss your bags... don't want to get on the boat and find that the bottle broke and all of your clothes are ruined/smell like liquor.

If you plan on taking liquor you should be ok, I think. My sister flew just last month and she said that it was like normal procedures. But she said that randomly they would pick a person to search. Also if you look suspicious I have heard that you get searched. We also live in Houston, and our airport is extrememly big.
But now that I think about it so is yours, Newark or maybe even JFK, anyways, I would imagine that you should be ok, and say they do find it, the worse that can happen at that point is they take it away, and maybe search you more thoroughly, so make sure you have nothing illegal on you at the time.

I was thinking of devoting a suitcase to canned beer and vodka that i put in a 2 liter coke bottle so no glass breaks. I will also secure the coke bottle with electical tape.

What do you think?

Well, my honest opinion is, if they search your luggage, the taped up coke bottle will probably be thought of as a bomb.

that is what i am thinking...the worst that can happen is i lost beer and vodka.

Last cruise was from Charleston, SC to Nassau. It was awesome. And like you, it's the only way to travel for me also.. They just make everything so damn easy for you.
