Why does Africa have such a big AIDS problem?

even if they did they could not aford a condum bro.lol

We spend millions of our tax dollars to "help" them with this crisis. Unfortunately thanks to the Bush administration and the Christian right wing fools, we're teaching them that abstinence from sex will prevent AIDS. I think even the people of Africa already know that much. Of course telling people to just stop fucking does not help at all. It's a basic instinctive activity for all animals.

I follow events in South Africa very closely. The Health Minister down there believes that condoms do not work and that the best way to fight AIDS is with garlic and other natural remedies. No wonder over 30% of the population is HIV positive. I have a friend who was in the military down there and he says it is much worse and the government refuses to recognize there is a problem.

"Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has strongly defended her approach to fighting HIV and Aids. She said this week she wanted to give citizens choices, including traditional treatments like garlic, lemons and beetroots, instead of championing anti-retroviral drugs. "

She is highly praised amongst people in the ANC (the ruling party in South Africa). Too bad the mainstream press doesn't cover this stuff but it is not PC to be critical of the new government down there.

Justin, that's just sad that these people are given such bad information. Maybe satellite TV is the solution. Give them access to information from the developed world.

Half of the people in SA and an overwheling majority of the people in Africa don't have access to TV's let alone a radio. When the government is corrupt nothing can save them. Before the new government in SA took charge simple things like screening for blood for donations was a routine practice. Now most hospitals don't even do that.

because the place is backwards as hell, the ignorant dipshits who refuse to learn what the developed world has to teach them are enough to keep the aids epidemic snowballing, and the country is too broke to adress the problem...and so the continent will continue to unravel...which suits the rest of the world just fine, since we're going to want that real estate sooner or later and we wont have to fight as hard to get it

cynical? ;)

You ever think that the gov't in Africa think they have to many people and if half dies the country as a whole would be better off. Life being worth something is a rich mans morals.
