That is correct. Christianity was started by the romans (as stated above) hence the european look so that the people could relate.

what??? christianity was not started by the romans!!! it was adopted as the official religion of the empire by constantine roughly 300 years after the time of jesus!

i agree that images of jesus look the way they do because the empire played a large role in propagating the religion.
