Today I hit 20 reps with 295, I think in 3-4 more sessions I'll be doing 315, I go just below the hole or just outside of it when squatting.....these kick my ass, but they're awesome.

I could when my shoulder wasn't injured. I was doing 375 for around 10... now, I can't get my shoulder back far-enough to so I can grip my hand on the bar.

And forget about front-squats... I can't do nearly the weight, balance fucked up and hurts!

No, just my heart! *melodramatic sniffle* :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

20 palous...I havent been able to rely on freeweight squats or deads much, In fact I rack deadlifted 320 the other day for 12, but I cant go lower nor can I be anything but perfect with my squatting form because of my lower lumbar....my thighs hover around a genuine 28 inches, sometimes more sometimes less, measured at the upper part.

I usually have no problem with that weight, I usually stop around 12-15 because I'll climb to 405 for 10 or so. depends how I feel. I've done 500 for 5 over the winter but that was when I was up to 208lbs. I'm hovering around 202 now at 5'9", 9%bf.

Deads, I regularly lift 500 somtimes I'll do 550, attempted 600 2 weeks ago but my grip failed. No belt. I'll nail 600 soon.

Just did 315 to parallel for 16 the other day and it wasn't to failure. No belt either or pad on the bar. Don't believe in them. I've been really relaxed with my legs lately since they grow so easily but Im going to be busting my ass on them alot more now.

315x20... I'd put my chances at like 95%, never did a 20-rep set, but 315 isnt much (to me). Then again my legs are big and grow with ease.

405x20... Probably not, but I could get at least 10 solid reps to parallel.

The only squat that counts is ass-to-heel. That way, Im good for about 12 with 315. Shit, going to parallel or whatwever, I could prolly go for an hour!

An hour? I bet...hahaha. "Ass-to-heel" is bad form, bottom line, if you do "ass to heel", you'll fuck you knees up big time at some point eventually. Parallel is perfect form. It puts the least amount of stress on the knee. Anything more than slightly below parallel is probably doing more harm than good.

Also, if your gym has it, I recommend using the safe squat. At most gyms this consists of a 70lb bar with a padded neck/shoulder area and a grip for each hand. The bar isnt attached to everything, so you still have to balance, etc., but I've found that once a heavy enough weight is on there, balancing is fairly easy. The grips allow you to go further back and down without using improper form or balance. Many D1 football programs are now using this type of squat since it is not only safer, but less stressful on the joints and back, and good for those who have trouble/pain using regular bars.

Did you guys hear that? Wodin warms up with 315! I bet that's got the crowd at the nursing home impressed! LOL, Just messin with ya bro. :) I've heard you're pretty a pretty big guy.

I regularly do box squats for 8-10 sets of 2 with around 315 on the bar...plus 150lbs of band tension at the top (blue bands)...thats 16 to 20 total reps with only 45 secs between sets. Does that count??!

:lmao:

Honestly don't know how many reps I could do with 315 in one continuous sets. Of course I am training for speed and strength...not hypertrophy.

Nice work, Frack.

At my best...b-4 back injury I had hit 315 for 22..I was sick for three hours...set took about 5 minutes

i have never tried endurance training such as that before; squatting has always been a strong point for me; i knew this when i hit 405 x 5 reps parellel at 170lbs. now i just do, ass to the floors with 350lbs. i dont want HUGE legs anyways, i already have a hard enough time finding pants that fit.

There are guys at my gym benching that. I warm up with 315 on bench and then go sets of 8 with 365. As for squats, the question should be how much can you squat with 500?

Repping that sort of weight puts your body into an entirely different metabolic state....its hard to explain until you've experienced it, but you're basically dazed and out of it for a good 30 min and then once your adrenalin drops you're dead tired...I love them, superb cardiovascular work

That was during one of my Old School Programs...gaine 2 pounds per week for 6 straight weeks.

Started at 275 and added weight or reps at every wo.

Heck, I feel better now. I'm not the only one that gets wasted from doing high reps with moderately heavy weight. I can't go real heavy because of injuries, those 20 rep sets kick my butt, but I recover fully after about 15 minutes.

i got up to 275x20 recently. i'm not in that kind of shape for that. cuz i rock down low, stop, hold a brief conversation, then go back up. thas' how i roll.

I did it 4x to one inch below parallel back in '03. I wonder how many women in the world they are who could actually do it 20x?
you did 315 four times?
how much do weigh?

The most weight I could ever squat behind the neck was 225# for 12 - 15. then I switched to front squats. Most I ever did with that was 135# for 12.

That was when I cared how big my legs were.

Now I do bullshit ballsquats with NO WEIGHT. I incorporate them into the bullshit pussy circuits I do.

LFMAO and my ass is STILL 22 y/o. :qt:

I never rep that high with squats. I had to switch to one legged squats because 455 was killing my back. Correct form is impossible at that weight.

The other day I supersetted leg ext and leg curls for 50 rep sets with 150lbs on the ext and 100 on the curls. 3 sets...no rest

then I supersetted Back squats with front squats
1st set with the back squats was 225x30, ft squats 135x20
2nd set was 315x25, ft squats 225x15
3rd set was 405x20, ft squats 315x10
rest periods roughly 3 min between

then i dragged some weight out i the parking lot and did 2 sets of walking lunges with 185x100 yards then 225x100 yards

went back in and finished up with hamstrings(seated leg curls, standing 1 legs, SLDs)

im still running all natty. no shit since march. Im really happy with where I am right now. weighing a suprisingly hard 280

How the fuck do you maintain natty at 280? How tall are you? Have you run a lot of gh or igf? What supps do you run natty?

im about 6'1
Ive never run GH or IGF-1
All Im doing right now is multi vitamin, flax, joint support and the BSN mass stack

Im eating a little differently though

larger meals, less often
im only eating 4 times a day instead of 6-8
i think it has allowed me to stay larger because Im keeping my metabolism slower

but im looking really really hard, its crazy.

Can not compute,

I have been doing front squats almost entirely for over 6 or 7 years,

Can not use the same weight, but helps with form and building my quads,.

Also saves my knees, I think?

I like doing both
I feel they target the lower body differently
I feel back squats are definately more compund in that i utilize much more glute and hamstrings whereas in the front squat it is almost entirely Quads
either way I squat to the floor

You are absolutely correct.

Need to load up on the dead lifts and glute curls if you do front squats.

If you guys are hurting your knees from squatting deep it's b/c you're bouncing out of hole. Everybody thinks deep squats are bad for your knees b/c bad technique is so common.

i stop dead. pause actually, then continue up. i cannot do it any other way. i think i'd wind up in the hospital if i were to only try a half rep.
