what to do for knee pain

New member
Ive been suffering from patellar tendonitis and have some pain in my medial collateral ligament too. Ive used glucosamine and chrondrotin in the past and think ill use it for this. Question is, what dosages do you all use? I also remember loading for a short time but cant remember how much to use and for how long. Whats the mainenance dose usually?

Anyone have something else they have used to help heal up tendons and ligaments?

400 mgs of ibuprofen 30 minutes before a leg workout

works every time

Yeah, I take a couple of Alieve before leg night, and that helps. This damn tendonitis though needs a little more help.

Best stuff i have ever found "stop pain" tropical spray
Available at Wal-mart-Walgreens,QVC most any pharmacy.
It has actually healed a knee problem i had for a long time.

Great to hear! I am planning on hitting walgreens tomorrow. I will probably pick up a bottle of glucosamine sulfate/chondrotin sulfate along with that spray.

Whats in the spray?? Did you follow the dose suggestion on the bottle, or use some other dose of your own?

Im wondering how they get it to absorb through the skin. DMSO? If that was the case it would have that great smell huh! I would guess they dont use that. Im glad you suggested this spray, I wouldnt have tried it on my own because I would have been skepitcal.

Aleve has nothing on Ibuprofen bro

I switched to Ibuprofen on a whim and I was hooked the first time

its an owsome otc

use it sparingly

as everyone else said. you know you have it(as do i) so take meds to help reduce the pain. imo, nothing is going to make it go away
good luck

Believe it or not my brother had some sitting on his table i saw it ,asked about it he bragged about how good it was ,i had a nagging delt that had been bothering me so i asked to try it, in about 15 min that area was feeling a whole lot better, since than i've referred it to several bro's here on the forum and gotten rave reviews about.

I have bad knees and my patella tendontis has been HORRIBLE the past week and a half. I'm on heat, ice, ultrasound, glucosamine/chondroitin and ibuprofen and it's not enough. Can't believe I ran out of vicodin, oh well, time to go back to the doc and get another bottle prescribed. :(

I've had patella tendonitis for several years now. I still haven't found anything to cure it. I've just about givin up hope for something that works better than advil. I'll give Radar's spray a try, what the hell. I tried to give karma but, I have to spread it around before...

I sure hope the supplements help out. This knee pain sucks ass bad. The glucosamine and chondrotin did help my shoulder pain when I had that, helped it heal up.

Did you go for an MRI maybe it's something more serious then you suspect. From 1994 to present I have had (2)arm surgery's (1) torn labrium ligament in my shoulder (2) knee surgery's;ACL reconstructed and lateral release on kneecap (1) neck fusion C5-6, C6-7. The only thing that works for me is Vicodin or Lortab. Good Luck

damn bigjd its a wonder u dont have to use a morphine pump if ur still training hard after all that. but best of luck to ya bro lift to ya die thats my motto.

bigjd is correct....it could be more than tendinitis. If rest and ice does not work, you may have a cartilage tear or sprain. Then decision becomes operation (if just cartilage tear - be back training in a few weeks) or continue dealing with the pain for long time. I tore ACL and had reconstructed....rehab was hell (was riding stationary bike day after surgery), but 100% today and pain free.

I had a torn ligament in my wrist and formed tendanitis so I started taking 3000 mg of Glucosamine HCl and about 2500 mg of Chondroitin Sulfate. Scar tissue is a big problem with certain joint injuries (knees, rotator etc) an mri would be good to get. it's up to you though whether you want to mask the pain or fix it. i would heat it for a half an hour, stretch it out, then ice it. You probably should give it a week or two to rest. If it gets serious a brace or possible surgery might be needed. Cortisone shots are the best anti-inflammatory. Flavay is also good. hope that helps

The pain goes away after about a week of rest, and just then gets reinflammed when I train legs again. Pretty sure its nothing too serious, since the rest helps so much. Thing is I would probably need to take off a month from doing much of any leg work in order to heal it fully , and my legs would shrivel up to nothing. So for the past few months I have been training with it, and now am going to try the supplement and hope that speeds the healing.
