What lengths do you go to to save on gas? (if any?)

Great post, and I agree completely. I would like to hear more of this "grease car". How easy is the conversions process, works on any car? I also heard from somewhere that all deisel car's can run on vegetable oil...huh

the cost of diesel offsets the savings, you still need to run diesel

You're European, that doesn't count, this thread is about Americans that are entitled to drive and over consume oil by birthright. :)

You don't need a car in NYC either - it's more of a PITA to have one then it is to rent one for the weekend.

Boston is similar now, most take the train or get a Zip car for the weekends. I have reverse commute out to the burbs, otherwise I would dump my cars.

I hire a bunch of Mexicans to carry my Audi from place to place. It's time consuming, but I'm saving a bundle...

The solution is fat people.

Lipo suck the fat warm the fat turn the fat into oil. America has enough fatties to fuel the entire world...

negative sir. You convert the car to run solely on veggie oil. My buddy did it to an old Mercedes diesel. No buy no gas no more!

veggie oil costs double what gasoline costs!

That's a big negatory, MM. You only need to crank and idle on diesel for about 2 minutes (to allow the veggie oil to heat), then switch back to diesel for about 1 minute at the end of your trip. One gallon of diesel lasts me about 1500 miles.
