What is the best martial arts for self defense?

You know, I just use plain craziness........ I am alive, been stabbed(so deep the damn handle was up in my forearm as well) and still had my elbow pushing so damn hard on their throat that their eye's began to roll back. My wife (who is disabled) is the only thing that made me stop. If you have any experience at all in street fighting, just lose it on them. Use whats around you. In a fight anything goes man, seriously. No offense to the people here, as they mean well, but I did read where someone agreed with what I am about to say. No time limits, no rules, no nothing. Just two humans going crazy. Thats all it is, thats what it will be. Don't be a dumb ass if they have a gun freaking throw the wallet and run, unless they tell you to close your eyes and count to ten backwards then sideways. Knives, ahhhhh! You don't feel it when in crazy mode.

What I mean by crazy is a state of mind, I cannot explain. Close as I can get is, there is nothing in the world but you and this guy, survival.........................

I've been fighting for awhile now but I would have to say.. wrestling, brazilian jiu jitsu and kick boxing. This will make you extremely well-rounded.

I have been Kickboxing and boxing for years however I want to start taking another form of martial arts.... I was thinking Aikido or Judo..... What is your opinion? Also I have limited time for pratice. thanks

I would go Aikido.

A weekend with me. I'll turn you into a machine lol

Aikido takes too much time for you to be able to practice it in a fight.

Boxing is an excellent choice. Eays to learn.

I have a black belt in muay tai and full contact kickboxing...both are fairly easy to administer

Ju-jitsu is not likely to be used in street fights...lets be realistic you can use your elbows knees, but you're not going to end up on the floor doing an arm bar unless the guy you're fighting is a retard

I've done wrestling through highschool...If he's a big guy and like to fight, he wont let you grab him

I say go for "street fighting" lessons...there are guys who teach that...it's a compilation of several diff. practices and arts to be used specifically in street fights. Ex: military jujitsu.

bullshit. there is no such thing as a black belt in muay thai. in fact, muay thai doesn't use a belt system at all.
