What is going to happen?

The shots are corticosteroid, which will cause a decrease in swelling in the area which will relieve the pain. Right now there is enough swelling that it is compressing the nerves in that area. Once the swelling goes down, it should heal faster too.

True, and when the swelling goes down, physical therapy can be started without further irritating the once swollen tendons.

Shit I'm sorry or your wife bro. Try to do as much research as you can; I'm not a doctor and I'm not an expert but I don't trust doctors; they usually "recommend" a treatment having in mind what will give them as much money as possible from the insurance companies. And as long as they have their asses covered with insurances and those drugs are FDA approved, they don't really care about a real and definitive solution for the patience.

good luck!!

What kind of doctor specilized in western medicine? How do we find him/her? And we do have to pick a doctor that is in the insurance book. Otherwise she isn't covered at all.

This doctor wants to avoid the shots and especially surgery. That is why he took x-rays and gave her the anti-inflammatory pills with a pain killer...percocet. The pain killer is to kill the pain while the other medication does its job for the next few days. He said that after a couple of weeks if the pain is stil there, that she will need the shots. If the shots don't do it....then surgery.

I would hope they will do an MRI if the cortisone injections dont work. That percocet is supposed to be a strong pain killer.

Half a pill kills her pain but knocks her out!

My wife has BAD tendonitis of both shoulders. She now is going to require a hydrocortisone shot. Acutally she needs two! One in each shoulder. What is going to happen now? Does this mean that she is going to loose lots of muscle? Does this mean she is going to get fat? And if so, is there a way to stop this from happening?

She has been on anti-inflammatory medication for quite some time now but it is not helping her at all. So that is why now she needs to get these shots.

It's not the end, the cort shots will probably work. Being in the shoulders if it does not, then she needs an MRI, that will detect micro tears in the tendons, all tendons together equal the rotator cuff. They cannot heal on their own unless micro in size, and surgery is required which will normally fix it, but rest and time off helps all. Have her do some rotation excersizes, look them up on the internet, do them EVERYDAY, ice if it hurts, and by all means DONT take HGH. I went thru this for a long time. I was benching 365lbs at a weight of 195 and my body just wasnt ready for it, cause micro tears, resultin in tendonitis, these excersizes really helped. Then when I quit HGH, they went away completely.

Bro the doctor youre seeing right now is a western doctor. what i was saying is maybe you want to consult a doctor with a background in eastern medicine such as accupuncture. as far as insurance goes, i doubt it will cover it, but a consultation shouldnt cost you anything. i understand your wife is in terrible pain right now and you both pretty much just want the pain to stop, but all im saying is, a consultation with a doctor that applies a different approach could be a good idea. like i said before western medicine usually treats symptoms and what is visible, like X said temporary solution. think about it, your wife takes the shots the pain goes away, then it comes back, then she takes other shots and it goes away, then again and again, personally if i could i would try to permanently cure it, not just mask it. on the other hand eastern medicine tends to look at the root problem, the problem thats causing the symptoms, a permanent cure. all im saying is you might want to look into it, before doing something that you might regret. or maybe who knows, the shots may be the perfect solution. but dont you want to be a bit more certain before deciding.

Hum, HGH made it worse? I might have guessed it would help. I wonder what IGF would do for the tendons/ I felt like it helped my leg heal after I tore it.

Oh yea HGH will fuck it up, it's a known side effect to cause tendonitis, if you are lucky only in your wrists and most everyone sees that, I got the shoulders also.

With IGF-1 I have seen no sides what so ever.

Havent messed with HGH yet, because of the price. I am thinking about it in the future though, and I am glad you brought up this side effect. I had read that a long time ago, but forgotten about the tendonitis.
