Went to see a PT today...

This all stems from a November 2003 injury while bench pressing.
I had an MRI done to lok for a torn labrum and bicep tendon and it can back as ok.

Saw a newbie doc and a senior doc.

They told me that my clavicle is not formed correctly on my right side and it was probably that way since birth. It looks like it is detached from my back/spine too. Senior doc said wresters used to remove their clavicle so other wrestlers could not grab them there. They say the only problem that this might be causing is the soft tissue rubbing on the bone causing inflammation.

They told me that there is nothing I can do to fix that.
X-ray: On my left side you can see a 5 millimeter space between the clavicle and the arm bone on the right side it is almost a whole inch.

The bicep tendon is very tender. They do not think I have any rotator cuff or tears anywhere because the amount of force I generate when they do the test exercises. They bitch that it's hard to examine me because I have so much shoulder mass, yeah right. Although I like the ego boost.

They told me that I should forget about getting back to my old numbers on the bench press. I told them yeah right, they need to help me fix this because I'm not stopping.

We are back to the supra or superspinatus again. I start physical therapy in 2 weeks. They will show me every exercise I am already doing and use ice, heat and ultrasound on me.

I need to strengthen the shoulder area with rotator cuff and rhomboid exercises and maybe the gap on the right side will not bother me. The doc said I can go back to the gym and hit the weights but go light. So I will start doing the shoulder rehab found here: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/shoulder-rehab.htm

Best of wishes to you with the pt. Hey any compliment about size should always be accepted no argument.

Cheers,
Scotsman
