Very stupid move on max BP

Today there was no one to spot me. I did a warmup set to test my max bench press. I loaded 215 and did 2 sets. I didn't know I could pull it through, but I had wasted some good energy. I loaded 225lbs, and as I pushed up my elbows completely locked at 90°. I was shocked for a second and couldn't raise the fukin bar. I had no fuckin idea what to do. I lowered it to my stomach, BAD IDEA, it hurt, so out of whim I lowered the right side and it balanced out and all the weights from the right fell off. Then the left slingshot-freaked and it almost hit the mirror. I have learned a lot from this. And I don't fuckin know what would've happened if I added clamps to hold the weight. I will NEVER attempt this again without a spotter. Though I believe I could achieve 225lbs, on Monday I will see.

Look at the bright side Bro....you have something to tell the grandkids !!!

This is how we learn my brother. But you did the right thing (only option actually) as far as getting the bar off your stomach.
I have dumped the plates before. No biggey. Shit happens.
But yes...........it is definetly a "oh shit I`m fucked " moment !!!

Lessons learned.

If your gonna max out on benches and there are no spotters around............. USE the power cage.

Yup.... bench spotters......don`t leave home without em !!! :D

yup, well at least I was by myself in the weightroom and it wasn't embarrasing. Otherwise I would've pissed my pants, not... well maybe, lol.

When i first started to workout, i had a small home gym (u know the classic weider setup with the adjustable bench). I can remember the time when i was just about to join a gym (i had outgrown the stuff at home) and was doing bench with all the weights i had, about 185 in total.

Lets just say, never put the collars on and bench by yourself at home with no cage. 15 mins later and bruises from my rib cage to my hips, i learned this lesson real well.

Which reminds me.. id better reach my goal of 400 by my birthday (2 months to go!)

yeah give the bro a break.........people make mistakes........thats how you gain experience....

obviously he knows better now...

one scary experience i had with lifting was doing dumbbell presses with 80's and my right elbow gave out and the weight came straight towards my face, i jerked my head over and the weight landed on the bench right where my face was, about 1/2 inch away from the side of my head, scared the crap outta me.
