How many cans of tuna do you eat weekly ?

I eat albacore is great, but before I get out of the can and deep in water for about 2hrs takes a lot of the sodium out, less for water retention in case your taking, any cycles that causes water bloat etc.... I eat around 5 to 9 a week

I'm in college so I get the Tuna Creations by Starkist. The Sweet and Spicy is amazing. Actually tastes great. In the pouch too, I recommend trying it out.

The solid white albacore in the pouches is bomb. Have been a broke fuck lately so haven't eaten any tuna in weeks, but it's generally a staple.

I dont eat much of it now, To bland. I used to put some mayo in it until I started cutting and realised how many cals and crap were in such a small amount. Scarry stuff.

Albacore solid white, only the best...
Yummy but the most expensive

i havent really started eating tuna much but im gettin into it for more protein so ill prob start eating around 2-5cans a week

My staple food, it goes with or on anything.
Oats, tuna and a little chocolate protein powder for flavour, hmmm yummy.

Just call me Flipper.

Check the garbage sugars and transfats on any of the 'prepared' tuna products. Some are just fine, but keep an eye out for it.

Broke? Get your tuna in #10 cans, split it up into portions and freeze it. NO muss, no fuss, and MUCH MUCH cheaper.

Cheapest by FAR protein you can buy is big bulk whey, but not many of us can deal with 50kg of pure protein. Next in line portion per portion is bulk frozen eggwhites. Bulk frozenchicken breasts are REAL cheap too...

GET THEM FROM A RESTAURANT SUPPLY HOUSE! Just tell them you are a home caterer and bring CASH with you, be sure to tell them you pay in CASH.

In order to make the most of saving day to day you will need a freezer that can handle the burden.

I eat one can everyday. I can down a can in 30 seconds if I mix it with sour cream.

Ive heard solid white albacor has lots of mercury and that the chunk shit has less. Anyone else ever hear this. Also ive never heard of tuna with sour cream. Is it any good?

If you enjoy the taste of sour cream it is good. The added moisture makes it easy to chew and swallow, and the sour cream taste overpowers the fish taste big time. It’s the closest thing to mayo IMO with out all the fat.

I eat two a day straight out the can with two glasses of h2o in addition to a 60g protein shake a day mixed with water(with OJ or other juice when gaining). I space it out over the course of the day. I have been doing that since August 2004 and it is like breathing air now. It has no taste to me. I think of it like taking a supplement.

I'm up to eating one can a day mixed w/ 2T of hummus and 1T of ground cherry peppers. Use to do the salmon in a pouch thing, but that became very boring.

Oh Pintoca! You don't know what your missing. ;) It's tuna with cheese melted on top in between two slices of bread. Or, you can just have the tuna and cheese.

K thanks, now I am hungry and all I can have for the next 60 min is a big-ass cup of coffee and 45 mins of cardio... Damn, it sucks to be me :worried:

Damn girl! Sour cream? Sorta defeats the purpose of eating a nice healthy tin of tuna don't it?

Usually two cans a day, so about 14 a week unless I'm in the mood for chicken at some point. Was always doing Mayo and Tuna when I was looking to bulk, but now that I'm cutting I'm trying tuna with corn and hot sauce (I saw it on here somewhere). Sooo good.

zero now...used to eat 2-3 cans a day before i read all about the Mg posining...

I had a great lil way to eat alot of it and it tasted good too

1. drain water
2. add sunflower seeds
3. add hot sauce

havent had tuna in the longest time... such a cheap source of protien but too dangerous imo... i almost want to get a test for mercury to just make sure i am ok.. (if i was ok i dont think id still even touch it

You've to read more bro!
There are very few risks of mercury poisoning with canned tuna

unless you' re pregnant and/or eating large amounts of sushis/sashimis you're fine

my coworkers look at me funny when they walk into my office and i'm scooping tuna out the can with a little plastic spoon . . . at like 10:30 in the morning. personally i think the taste is way easier to stomach than chicken. chicken's good when you season it right, but given the choice between eathing a 1/4 lb of plain chicken breast or plain tuna, i'd stick with the tuna. PLUS it's cheap and doesn't need refridgeration. I only eat one pouch a day though, sketched about mercury.

I eat somewhere between 10-15 cans a week. I try to not even taste it anymore - just shove huge mouthfuls in my mouth and swaller it down with a huge gulp of H2O.

As Mick said in the movie "Crocodile Dundee"....You can live on it - but it tastes like shit!!!

Have hated Tuna for years, but still have a good 10 - 15 cans a week!

8-10 cans a day straight up. I love tuna! Nah just kidding. I usually have 1 can a day with 2 tbsp of salsa or lemon pepper seasoning.

LOL..this is a funny Q. Only because I eat like 1-2 cans a day. My wife is Peruvian and turned me onto this great little recipe.
1 can tuna.....drain the water!

squeeze a half lemon on top. This marinates(cooks) the tuna and makes it easier to digest

Cut up some onions and toss in. I add a tablespoon xtra virgin olive oil to this and a dash of salt and pepper. It is addicitive and tastes GREAT. So easy to.

is 4 and half cans a day too much? Being on a student budget and trying to get as much protein as I can get, tuna seems like a good option. Do you think I am taking in too much sodium? I drain before I eat it, depending on what meal it is (fat/carb) i might add anything from olive oil to lemon juice on it or eat with some toast.

Never thought about the sodium, but I bet you could rinse it off also b4 adding ingredients to cut down on it.

Ditto, fat free sour cream!!! and Franks Red Hot!!!

right now 2 cans/day of CHUNK LIGHT TUNA 14 cans/week, screw Albacore I prefer the Chunk Light already MUSHED up I can just spoon it into my mouth and swallow!

I'm approaching point of no return

With each can I'm getting closer to puking :worried:

BTW, I just moved to Skipjack tuna, from Yellow fin... and find it:

much more tastier
not that dry
cheaper as hell (1.59€/can for yellow fin, 0.59€/can on Skipjack) why the huge price difference? no idea , but it adds up quickly when you eat 30 cans/month

I eat around 18, sealed, 7oz, no drain packs, of tuna and/or Salmon per week. Been more Salmon lately because my local store had them cheaper than tuna.

i used to eat 4 cans a day- no shit. one day i had enough; couldn;t eat any more. it had been five years until i decided to get the white albacore in the pouches.

stumbled on this one and it tastes good!!!

2 pouches- dumped out in a strainer and rinsed/mixed with a fork to clean it off and get rid of much of the sodium.

once rinsed and strained, put in to a bowl and add 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.

then add 1 tabelspoon of balsamic vinegar.

then add 1 cup brown rice.

mix and enjoy! works out to be about 500 high quality calories.

and i swear to fucking god it tastes good. fishy taste is completely gone. sweet olive oil and balsamic vinegar mmmmm

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm sick of tuna

1-2 cans a day. Drain, add hot sauce and pepper, eat. Or throw tuna, brown rice, pepper, and hot sauce in a bowl. The chunk is easier to eat if you're eating it right out of the can, but the solid white is better when you're mixing it with stuff.

Thanks for the good ideas chef, always looking to save some cash!!!!!

tuna is just plain out NASTY

just the thought of a can turns my stomach a little

1 can tuna(drained)
1.5 tbl peanut butter(creamy)
1.5 tbl soy sauce
.5 cup pineapple juice(this varies person to person)
Add these to the blender. Blend until smooth. Once smooth, gradually add the rice milk until desired consistency is reached(1-1.5 cups) . Enjoy!!!

Shit.. I eat it like its candy.. I go through about 3 or 4 albacore cans a day plain.. there's a Monoprix right next to my apartment.. 70-80 eggs a week and 21-24 can's of tuna.. about 8-10 chicken breasts, 6-8 tuna steaks, close to a box of oatmeal, bundle of bananas.. 7 cans of green veggies, and a half gallon of milk.. that's my shopping list every... single.. week..
