And could you see trying to herd your women into a pack at the same time as head butting any randy guy that comes near you.
in consevation class a DNR officer gave a speech about deer poaching and how bad it fucked the pop. up.
one of the things he said is that if you kill a male deer in the spring/summer the meat is fouled by test.
think that's true or was he just fucking with us?

I disagree, we've eaten deer in the spring and summer with farm tags, (local farmers got so many tags if they could prove crop damage) and it never tasted bad. Late-winter PA deer taste foul because the only food they can browse is Mountain Laurel and it does taint the meat.

he wasn't kidding, has much more "wild" or gamy taste when bucks are in the full rut. They also taste different if you don't geta good one shot kill, seems the adrenalin has something to do with it too. If you planning on eating the buck, bleed it out asap, that helps as much as anything. If your wanting to have the better meat, take a doe.

But he was talking spring/summer. The rut for whitetails isn't until late fall a couple weeks before and until around Thanksgiving. Which is why archery ends in October and rifle seasons begin in December in PA.
