every article I have read on the case has ZEROED in on the fact that he was involved in the killing of approximately 8 dogs by hanging, drowning, and electrocution.

I know you're aware of how the media works. Racketeering doesn't exactly get people riled up or really even interested, but killings/drownings do. They have ratings to think about.
