That's the thing, I am not just repeating someone else's thought. I don't know if this makes me a liberal, a conservative, or as jnevin would love to believe, an idiot.

I am against hunting and dog fighting, something peta would back me for, but I don't think anyone should be put in prison for either.

Apparently the big deal was the $$$ involved. But I wonder if this was cock fighting & the same loot was on the table would the feds have come in??

My question is if this guy was a nobody would he go to prison for the same offense?

If the answer is yes, then everyone carry on. If the answer is no, then that is wrong no matter how offensive you find what this guy did. If the sentence is a stiff fine and some community service then that is what this guy should get too.

As for all the animal rights people... I could never harm an animal for pleasure or sport but I also could never laugh at the suffering of innocent children - something that I have witnessed right here on EF for far too long.

So as I have said before, you will all forgive me if I dont shed too many tears for the suffering of ANIMALS when my children suffer daily and so many of YOU LAUGH AND MAKE JOKES.

I'm not sure. What you don't understand is that the law is meant to lay out the rules and the sentence is there to punish the criminal and set a PRECEDENT to potential future criminals.

What the gov't is doing is using a VERY high profile man, who did a very bad thing to a very loved species, as an example to all the other ghetto mother fuckers who think it is cool to fight innocent, defenseless dogs for entertainment purposes.

They are using this as a deterrent to others. Vick is being made an example of.

This is the way of life.

Telling a brother down the block that Vick only got a $200 fine for getting caught dogfighting would turn into them essentially saying "Fuck it, it's only a $200 crime."

Making the penalty SO stiff is what helps prevent the crimes from happening again.

Unfortunately for people that disagree, society says they are crimes and you go to jail for commiting said crimes.

They don't give a fuck wether you agree or not.

Please... if that line of reasoning were accurate then EVERY state would have the death penalty.

I dont have any statistics but I dont think that dog-fighting is a crime that has reached epidemic proportions and hurts so many that this IDIOT should be made an example of.

Why dont we just kill all crack and meth dealers on the spot. Methinks that would have some sort of effect on all the ghettomotherfuckers?
