pure bullshit, but we were in trouble when GWB II came into office.

He's not GWB II.

The Act seems incredibly invasive. What scares me the most is the support for such legislation across party lines. Dems and Repubs both are going way overboard with these laws.

This quote by Herman Goering, although an exageration of what will happen in america, is a good blueprint of the views on these issues in the next few years

"Of course the people don’t want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood.

But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship. ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country"

America is doomed

I am a republican. I dont like ashcroft's policies or his ideas. I hate that legislation. How bout that?

All this is going on now and before 9-11, now they just want to make it "easier" to be "legal." Here's how I see it. When you live your life to the fullest it scares people. They see themselves never living on the edge and it reminds them of their own short comings. It makes them feel like pussies and they begin to fear you even more. They are then quick to pass laws to "protect" themselves against you. After all, even though they are giving up Freedom, it will never effect them so they wont have to see it. But every once in a while Mr. Concerned Citizen finds himself in the "gray" area of the very law he was so for getting passed. Like Benjamin Franklin said, He who sacrafices freedom for safety deserves neither!

Okay....

Where are all our lemming Republican yes-men that love the Bush administration at?
I voted for Bush. I'm not a "Republican," but I'm certainly more conservative than anything else.

Let's face some facts....

1. GW isn't in charge. The rich power brokers are in charge. Bush or Gore, the same agenda would be on the table for major issues. So you got a man who's a Texas Oil fan. How about making a list of likely "winners" if Gore got in? Would they necessarilly be better?

2. I voted for GW for one reason only....I didn't want Gore. Many pundits have said this about the election of 2000. "Is this the best both parties could come up with?"

3. For any Clinton-lovers out there, keep in mind that his administration did plenty to grab Federal power against the Constitution and did it's fair share to strip away our civil rights. If 9/11 happened with Clinton in office, do you really think we'd not see the liberal counterpart of Ashcroft doing just as much evil?

For the last 20 years (or longer), America's been in decline. We want government to wipe our ass, so we trust them to run our lives. The day the majority of Americans wake up to what's going on, it'll be too late to stop it.

Face it, people. Our nation is in it's last days. The wealthy control all the political power, and we've been turned into economic slaves by our own complacency.

Not to bash liberals or Democrats unfairly, but I'm so sick of people bashing Bush and Republicans as if they are Satan's grandkids when the liberal and Democrats are no better when you examine each for their evil deeds.

Johny,
I'm just curious what you don't like about Ashcroft's policies and ideas?
