BM, my take on the NA situation (I did live there awhile).

There is a distinct lack of community, and it is especially noticable with men, they just don't seem to have many male friends. So they rely quite a bit on their partners (women) for everything.

Women seem to maintain better social networks.

You are never going to get everything you need from one person.

When a relationship ends, the entire world crashes in for the man, it is really devastating. For women, they often have a support network (and Dr. Phil and Oprah ).

I think men need to spend time with men, and women need to spend time with women. Otherwise, you are missing out.

In the UK, the 'lads' spend a lot of time together. I notice it all the time, a lot more bonding.

Even on this board I have noticed it, people talk about how they isolate themselves at the gym, don't talk to anyone, and for anyone who does take their fitness seriously, the gym is a part of your community, I know it is a part of my community.


That is just my take, I could be completely wrong in my interpretation, and if it does have some validity, it probably isn't true for all the men in NA either.

You do have some valid points but I think that it has a bit to do with *the type* of community MOST men have, you know the ones where they stand around the campfire watching raunchy stag films, smoking cigars, drinking beer and talking about how they would *love to fuck those hos up the ass*. Then they marry women who are equally sexually repressed and wonder why they don't have satisfying sex lives.... then, of course, they eventually gravitate towards *the hos* (LOL)... you know, the women who actually enjoy sex and aren't afraid to admit it and well said *ho* kicks their sorry ass to the curb 'cause they spent more time fantasizing about sex then actually learning how to please a woman and the vicious cycle repeats.
