tendonitis blows..........

I know this is the wrong board but do any of you know how to PREVENT tendonitis? I have had it 2 times and I dont want to get it again. My doc said warming up before exercise wont help tendonitis, warming up just helps other injuries like tearing muscle. Thanks.

You have to rest the part of the body that has tendonitus for it to go away-its an over usage injury. I get in my achilles so bad I can barely walk so I have to take several weeks of from running or anything that stretches my achilles. Unfortunately I've taken all different types of juice hoping to help the problem but none seem to work in this area. My bones and muscles seem to heal faster, but ligaments and tendons don't seem to be affected.

Something I haven't tried is GH which I hear can help repair some connective tissue damage but its very expensive and this is only a last resort if my rest doesn't help.

Deca could be beneficial for you. I had tendonitis/arthritis problems (at 27) but after including deca in my last cycle my elbow was fine, even for months after the cessation of the drug. It is somewhat bothersome now but I have not cycled in like 8 months...

Ive had prolotherapy done which got rid of severe tendonitis in my elbow. It didnt happen overnight, but it did happen and it hasnt come back.

getting A.R.T. (active release technique) done by a chiropractor i work with. 3 sessions in 10 days and i feel a huge difference. might want to look into it.

if you have tendonitis, you should ice it for about 45min a day, maybe twice a day, and take advil. The goal is to shrink the swelling. If you're trying to prevent tendonitis, the only advice I have is to lift smart.

Got bad news for you bro, rest is really the only cure. I screwed up my elbow doing skull crushers years ago and it has never been the same. I finished a test/deca cycle earlier this year and it helped along with me staying out of the gym for 3 months completely. When you do go back after a full rest, don't worry, muscle memory will kick in shortly and as long as you eat clean during the time off you won't lose too much. Just watch those triceps exercises, whicher ones have a tendancy to cause the pain, stop immediately and switch to something else. Doc's have told me there is therapy along w/steroid shots to fix the problem if nothing else works. Remember to take the time off and when you go back, hit the light weight and warm it up real well.
