Taking Back the Childhood Birthday Party!!!

Don't get me wrong...when my DD turns 10 or 12 and can APPRECIATE it and help plan it, we will rent a limo, rent a hotel room, ect. But for preschoolers...gimme a break. They really don't care!

Younger kids really do not care one bit. As long as you provide them with fun games, cake and ice-cream- YOU'LL be a HERO in their eyes.


*You need to get some face painting for them to do. That should be a real blast for them too. I'd prolly get some of hubbies old shirts for them to wear. Can you see them painting one another- They'll love it!

*You mentioned the candy filled pinata(sp) right? Total kid fun right there- missing teeth from the bat is the downside-lol. No, the pinata is a must IMO.

*Pick up some McDonalds free ice -cream coupons( or DQ) for lil prizes.

These kids will love you. Nothing says love more than a fun loving mom.

I had a friend who had a rental place for party stuff and also sent out entertainers. They needed a substitute for the pink power ranger, so I filled in for them. I've never had my shins kicked so much! OUCH!

Ok guys, my kid is turning 4 years old next week. I am single handedly taking back the simple and sane birthday party! The parties are getting out of control! I live in a pretty affluent area but at this rate we'll be attending parties at the Space Needle in a couple years.

In the past year I have been to the following kinds of partied for kids turning 3, 4, 5.

~Laser Tag ($10/kid)
~Fishing Hole Party (cost $12/child)
~Bounce House Party (costs $200+)
~Chuck E Cheese ($300 after pizza and tokens)

Those costs are ONLY for the entertainment/location. You still have to buy cake, decorations, party favors, ect.

What ever happened to an at home, sweet party for kids? Anyway, I'm DOING it next week!

I'm gonna make a Texas Sheet cake with gooey frosting, play "pin the mask on the Power Ranger", play games and send them home. Hopefully this will inspire other parents to get off of the "top this" birthday party train.

The other thing I refuse to buy are those god awful GIFT BAGS to give away to the party goers. Why am i sending THEM home with gifts/goodies???? That's not rational!

Yea, for Halloween we had a huge party, didn't spend over $500. We have a trampoline at my moms, I did the face painting (following instructions from online sites of course), lots of games with prizes. My favorite game was tacking a bunch of balloons to a cork board and letting them throw darts at them. We gave out a handful of candy to the winners. A pinata, sack racing, and pin the tail on the donkey are favorites. As long as you have games, you can get away with anything!
