Subaru has to be the longest lasting vehicle on the road.

susaru for a while was building quality cars for a while when they first came out to build their name. just like saturn. but with the new trend of selling crap cars for high dollar i am sure they went down to. my longest life vehicle was a 1987 chevy astro/cargo van i bought with 22k miles on it and took it up to 468k miles with the orig. engine, trans, and rear. it ran like a champ until the day the engine blew.

chang your oil every 3k miles and drive it the same way all the time using the same grade of gas all the time and never put any of those crap treatments in it and you will get the most out of your car.

I've owned four

never had any serious issues

good car for new england weather

My old Nissan Sentra went to 230,000 kms with only a new clutch as a major replacement before I sold it - it is probably still on the road today. It was a great reliable car. I also had a K Car that went over 250,000 but constantly had problems.

I have found standard vehicles tend to last longer than automatic ones. Maybe it is easier on the transmission if you know how to drive and shift properly.

Most reliable modern vehicles (most now defunct):

- Toyota trucks with 22R engines
- RWD Crown Vics/Grand Marquis - regular exceed 250k taxi/police service
- 4.0l Jeep Cheerokee
- Most Mercedes Diesels

wood also like to add the 3.8l Buick (early to mid 2000's) and the Mazda designed 2.3l 4 cylinder Ford Ranger engines to my list.

kthxbye

Buicks are workhorses.. I have several friends that have 200k on them as well...

Doubt seriously that the current generation (6th gen) Nissan Sentra assembled in Aguascalientes, Mexico wood be as trouble free.

just sayin'

My weekend Toy is a mint 1979 AMC Jeep golden Eagle CJ5 with 52,000 mile on it,I love yanking people outta ditches with it!My toughest pull was a stuck RV once i got a bit of traction after spinning a few times she started moving!
My Favorite part is when i get them hooked up and i holler are you ready, I hear them say "NO!" thats my cue to yank them out, the look on their faces is priceless,BTW the Powerplant is AMC 304, elebrock manifold, Holley 4 B Carb 650cfm, 290 degree competition cam,Hooker headers and several other goodies! :)

The original Saturns were cheap pieces of shit. Saturn has actually come a long way and is making some quality stuff now. Subaru still makes a quality vehicle and gets nods from consumer reports all of the time. Not too mention Scoobies have a pretty damned good resale value
