A couple of strong man competitors work out at my gym. They do two excersizes that look like a box squat and was wondering if you guys ever do them.
1. Using a regular bar, in a power rack, they take the weight out as if they were going to do a regular squat. Then they go down into the squat hitting the lower bars. They pause, completely taking all weight off their body and then squat the weight up. Essentially this is a box squat but completely taking the weight off their shoulders.
2. In a power rack, set the bar at a position were it would be at paralel or above. Then just get underneath and squat the weight up.
All sets are done for 1 rep working up to a max.
I was doing excersize #2 at moving the weight up as the weight progressed over several workouts with success.
What do you guys think?
