it's largely a question of visibility. some people won't come to your mind first because others post more, or behave in ways more likely to be noticed and remembered. specifically: the people mentioned here are likely to involve themselves in discussions on a regular basis.

ah...when you posted that i was immediately reminded of a guy who i used to work with,the reason i believed you.

One of the biggest XTC and coke dealers in miami for awhile. Someone snitched on him and he got locked up. Guy had millions in cash, bunch of properties, cars etc. All seized

When he came out he got into mortgages and just made a killing. guy was resourceful as hell. Just a natural businessman, hustler and networker.
I ran into him in the street not too long ago after not seeing him for a couple of years. Even with the shitty market, he's one of the few still making serious coin (not sure how, but he found a way to make it work).

i figured maybe that's the type of people you were referencing

the irony is that most smart criminals could make just as much money

in legit business. the adrenaline is not the same though.......

i own a professional fundraising company.

we have a call center that employs 60 people.

i have a seasoned management team and all

we hire for are TSR's. my TSR'S earn between

18k and 50k year. jack you are way over qualified

to sit at a computer and pound out presentations.

That's good business not necessarily higher intelligence, you can be a complete idiot but charming and well connected that can make you very successful at any business venture you convince others to put together for you. Many of the top biz people out there aren't the brainiacs that are doing the actual work they're the ones that are smart enough to delegate to those (do the deal) who know how do tasks but don't know how to be the captain of the ship.

There are so many type of intelligence and there are equally as many way to measure. I think the only sure thing is when you come across people that couldn't find their way out of box on their own or those that couldn't figure out that they could or should get out of the box at all.

Note my first intelligence list. Omega was on it with 'he hides it though'.

I love the BBing related forum for smart peeps, and it isn't just that people know things or cut and paste stuff, it is the questions some people come up with, the application of knowledge, or the ability to have someone who is really concerned about issue X, and they handle it so well.

Chat is a completely different kettle of fish, threads are either incredibly intellectually challenging, or an escape from having to think at all. :)

This board is great for smart peeps, there are so many others on the net where it is full of 'meat heads'.

Someone mentioned Digger, he seems to be able to come up with the best posts when all else has failed.
 
I think smart is over rated. So is spelling. I mean I type so fast i get a lot of typos.

I love my job and do it very well. Some people would even say i am a very smart ER nurse. I may not know every disease process or how the drugs I am giving do this or do that on the cellular level and I really don't give a fuck about that either.

I know how to explain things to patients in the way they understand and they love it. I come in after the doctor has used these "big words" and put it in terms they can understand.

I know when a patient comes in with a certain illness/complaint what needs to be done.

I have to agree with cavlesswonder about smartness being relative.

Layingback is a smart mofo though

I actually did get in the 90's. I was a junior in high school at the time. They told me I could pick any job I wanted. I was supposed to attend basic the summer before my senior year. Then do the reserves my senior year and through college and come out an officer and have to serve 4 years active. I didn't sign at the last minute.

most of the huge guys have mediocre jobs with no direction, aren't very smart and have little else going for them

my theory...overcompensation for their defencies.

but occasionally you have someone that has an excellent balance. theres a few good bros including yourself like that

i appreciate that CW but i don't wanna be a hypocrite or a poser. i struggle

with balance and tend to go overboard with almost everything i do.

sometimes my wife takes on an almost parental role and she brings these

things to my attention and helps me find a happy median.

i have no doubt that my quests in BB'ing, business and other outward

medium are all compensatory measures. the awareness of the latter helps

me to not get to caught up in the bullshit.

btw i remember the thread. musta got bumped because i read it and it

Determining smarts is all relative. Some people can be smart in certain areas and completely lost in others.
I'm not sure I can decide who's smart or not based on an internet msg board since people can convolute all sorts of info or their personalities based on the fact that they are safely behind a screen.
Real life is a far better forum to judge.
There are some people on EF that "talk' smart, but I would think they are nowhere near as smart in real life.
A degree, a large vocabulary or basing intelligence on wealth is an illusion.
There were some "smart" people mentioned here I feel are not smart at all. Again, all relative and what others deem as smart.

Nothing sillier than someone bragging on the internet about how much money they supposedly make. No one I know who makes decent money feels the need to bragg or would disclose the actual amount. In my book this automatically eliminates your from your own list.
