Should I take steroids?

Wow nice. If I PM you can you offer me any dieting tips or anything? Should I pick up a copy of that book you mentioned in your post up above? Also nobody answerd to what I posted before.

Because I know there are a lot of variables say somebody has decent genetics. With proper diet and training and recovery how big natty do you think they could get? Currently im all natty and my offseason weight (winter time bulking for me) is almost to 190 even. I think some ppl would be very suprised to see how big and strong you could get by staying natty. I know I postponed any useage and really stepped it up and I was quite suprised by the results I could achieve only supplimenting creatine, glutamine and whey protien and sometimes a liquid carb/protien drink.

Also maybe we could start something to help the ppl that would like to compete but dont really know how to go about it and get their feet wet? Maybe we already did but ive never seen that thread and I think that could be helpful too. Sorry didnt mean to stray from topic

Tatyana. Russian? I love that.

Anyway, you know Tom Venuto? Good guy. Ripped! But I'm of a different midset with dieting. I don't believe in suffering to look in top shape 24/7. That's the whole point of training -- to look good and enjoy life to the fullest. A life with no bread is not worth living. : )

I've found diet is pretty simple and no so much of a factor (beyond getting the proper micro and macro nutrients) unless one is competing. That's a different story.

Diet won't alter genetics. Tatyana, if you use no stims, supps or steroids, I have to believe you have astonishing genetics to be lean. Good for you! And I don't think steroids would help your physique at all.

But as Jack LaLanne said: "You get a horse to be a champion by training it, not feeding it well." And as I said in my book; "A bulldog doesn't get to look like a greyhound by eating like one. "

They say diet is 80% of it all. I say bullshit. Show me someone with a pristine diet who doesn't work out and I'll show you someone who looks like a normal person. Meanwhile, someone who trains hard and eats a normal diet can look amazing. Genetics, genetics, genetics. Not to say diet is important -- just not that complicated, that's all.

Ok I am cutting and pasting myself :)

Here is an example of what I mean, and you would find this in Tom Venuto's burn the fat feed the muscle.

You are going to have to do some research and calculations to figure out what works for you.

If you have ever seen the pre-comp bible, you will find that there is a HUGE difference in how each pro gets ready for a comp, and obviously it works for all of them.

You need to decide what percentage of your diet is each macronutrient, a good ratio is 40% protein 40% carbs and 20% fat for a starter, some people like 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat..............you can adjust this later when you see how many grams of each are in your diet plan.

So for example if you want to eat 2000 kcals per day (I AM JUST PICKING THIS NUMBER FOR EASE OF CALCULATION) with the 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat ratio:

800 kcals will come from protein

800 kcals will come from carbs

400 kcals will come from fat.

1 g protein/carbs = 4 kcals

1 g fat = 9 kcals

so 800 kcals / 4 kcals/g = 200 g of protein and carbs

400 kcals / 9 kcals/g = 44 g of fat

THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE, check out the BMR (basal metabolic rate formulas in the thread)
There are some of the basic forumulas in this thread

My name is Ukrainian (I am actually Scottish, Irish, Dutch, German, Polish and Ukrainian :) )

I know what you mean by genetics, I didn't realise what great genetics I had until I started bodybuilding, I am one of the LUCKY ones.

Diet not that important, hmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe I should post some off season pics or some of my FAT photos (I have been a fattie for about 3 years in my life).

AND my coach has called me FAT off season as well, but there is a whole other distinction to FAT with bodybuilding.

That said, resistance training/weight lifting is a HUGE missing in most people's well being. Cardio queens with healthy diets NEVER get the body they want.

So I do get your point, but the young lads training and on gear eating at KFC and McDonald's are not going to maintain a decent physique for long either.

Yes.

A different thing. Obviously excess calories will make anyone fat. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm saying that once you're in the correct calorie range and get enough protein and don't eat too much crap -- it doesn't matter much after that. You won't be able to make much of a difference unless you get REALLY extreme.

Personally I think you'd look better with another 5% fat. But I'm a selfish sexist.

You may not know it, but I wrote one of the first published articles on this topic. ("Don't Do Aerobics" 1999) Very controversial at the time.

Never said they would. But there's an "in-between" eating garbage and eating a Spartan diet.

Do you ever make it to New York?

Yeh I already calculated all my stuff. Its pretty much winter time here so I am on clean bulking diet with one 1 cheat meal a week. I noticed a lot more vascularity in my forearms and my stomach has gotten flatter. More definition in pectoral areas. Way way way more strength and endurance while training and way faster recovery.

I know I have been getting some very good results. I wish I had the help of a bber that competes :/ makes me furious that that kid asks to train with you and doesnt show up. Actually it really pisses me off and bums me out now that I think about it more. Id kill to have someone like you or another bber that competes workout along side me or be my mentor.

Best thread i've seen. I asked a pro bodybuilder that I was training w/ when I was 18. He told me that I was still having wet dreams and needed to feed and train my body for at least 4 more years ( CONSISTENT ) no BS hard work, strong diet, and lots of rest.. He told me the best way to get to his level was a strong foundation and then if all of my ducks are in a row , we could talk about steroids......

Thanks Tatyana

It is a learning PROCESS.

If it was EASY and SIMPLE then everyone would look like ARNIE.

The diet thing took me AGES to work out what works for me, and I am still experimenting.

Your training partner sounds like the one I have right now, he is only 19, bless.

I am still learning about training properly. The diet and cardio, have my head wrapped around those, but I am still learning a LOT about building muscle.

Arnie and so many others have said that there is a BIG mental component to bodybuilding, being positive, visualisation, you have to learn how to trust yourself and listen to your body.............

Gotta disagree. Arnie wasn't the best because he had the best diet.

I've seen homeless guys who are ripped. Do they have some secret strategy that the rest of us don't know?

I do have a concern that people think that steroids are the 'easy' way to get big.

95% of the people I know on gear have no idea of what they are doing, and the people posting here are in the same category.
