Should I take steroids?

Great post. I coudn't agree more. I waited until I was 30 and 200 lbs. natty before I took the plunge.

...and, by the way, I smashed ALL those numbers (deads, squats etc.) without gear so it can be done.

I like this thread. But my question to you is you dont want ppl saying I want to compete and this and that and if they do they need to do well. What if you havent competed before how would you know how you are going to do? Are you saying you should train naturally first to see how you would do?

I think another thing to add is you should be able to hit those lifts with proper form. Form is so key. I see other guys at the gym barely doing more weight than me and they are herky jerky and looking ridiculous. I think its very important and I agree you should eat clean and big and learn how to grow and learn how to get really strong naturally first.

I myself would like to plan on using gear but I think I am going to wait until I compete naturally in another year or 2 and I want to see if I can hit the 200lb mark off season first natty.

I hope I didnt miss the point of this thread lol.

I train in a proper old school BBing gym. If I had a pound for every lad I heard say "I want to compete" I would be RICH.

What I mean by the compete like "I want a pony" is that there have been some SERIOUS hardgainers in my gym who have taken an OBSCENE amount of gear in order to compete in the UKBFF (IFBB in the UK). There is NO WAY they would ever have the physique that would have them ever do well in the IFBB, complete pipe dream, and in the meantime, they are messing majorly with their body.

SO few people make ANY kind of money from this sport, it is more a labour of LOVE. You do have to be REALLY realistic with yourself about what you will get from competing.

There are other federations that they could have a go in, without all the drugs.

I do think training naturally, and going through the whole comp diet thing is actually REALLY anabolic on its own.

My coach is fantastic, she has competed at Olympia, she competed for nearly 13 years, and had a very successful career. 13 years on and she is still one of the favourite female bodybuilders in the UK.

She also told me ALL the horror stories about gear. She also told me 'gear won't get you anywhere'. She also told me that female bodybuilding, as in the IFBB, is just not 'marketable' anymore. Natural female muscle, figure girls are.

As much as I hate to admit it, she is ALWAYS right.

I just find it ironic in the quest to create that beautiful physique

1. you may not be able to use it for what most men want to get a great set of arms for (SEX)

2. you may not keep the gains that you have stressed your body for

3. you may never learn how to diet and train properly if you rely on the drugs to do it

Oh yah, and to make my point, in these pics, I had been BODYBUILDING for about a year and a half (I have trained since 16), and I hadn't taken ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING.

No OTC fat burners, no herbal diuretics, no creatine, no glutamine, no BCAAs, no CLA.

I ate real food and I did use whey protein in my oats in the morning and post work-out.

AND my carbs were usually 120-250 g/day.

It is all about the nutrition, training and recovery.

Sorry some are so small, I can't be bothered to resize any pics right now :)

Well yeh I guess a lot of ppl can say they want to compete but you cant look at eeveryone that says they want to as being one of those clowns(not saying you are). Also dont ppl take steroids with their diet and training regimen to pretty much override genetics? I believe the ppl that take them and dont get great results is because they dont do it properly. I personally dont like how the guys really look competing to be Mr.O i think the old school guys looked much better. Small waist big muscles and very vascular. I think the guys of today are pretty much just all overgrown in every which way.

I guess the only way to tell if you have good genetics is to compete and see what you can do natural and then once you get your diet and training in check whos to say with the right cycles you couldnt build a wicked awesome physique?

But I def agree that there are a lot of ppl that take g ear and they shouldnt. I know of a guy here who took a shit ton and he looks like he doesnt even hardly workout.

But I guess there are some points thats I dont get.

So with that being said I do think that someone with decent genetics and that has their diet and training down and doesnt rely on gear but rather uses it as a tool could build a physique to be wreckoned with. I know gear doesnt make the man but to my understanding a big reason why ppl use gear is to surpass natural limits which is their genetics.

Sorry forgot to add I 100% agree with you in that there are GREAT gains to be made if you bust your ass which is basically what you are saying. Im gettin the vibe that you think ppl dont try as hard as they can and go meh Im at natural limit ok time for gear. Another thing with that is I guess that would be a good way to see what your genetics are like?

And just to further help prove a point I had a shitty training ethic and eating and sleep ethic and I made so so gains mostly because I am so young. A few months ago I took everything way more serious and really got everything dialed in quick.

I went from say shoulder pressing the 65lb dumbells for 3 sets of 10 to doing the 90lb ones for a few reps comfortably. Never could benchpress that much but started doing closegrips at the end of last week for a few reps of like 245 is what I think I ended up at. Bodyweight is 185 now and im a little more lean than last winter.

I dont really have any pictures to show that would help show a change but the pics in my gallery are from I think my 2nd week into taking shit way more seriously so maybe in like 5-6 months I will have some pics that ppl can compare and see the changes but until then all I have for proof is how my lifts went up pretty drastically.

directly to the question of whether or not to take steroids.....

why,yes......yes you should,if your diet and training is in check and you're above the age of 21 and a responsible person that practices common sense...........only you should have the option what you can and cannot put into your body.

I find it highly ironic how the media and public demonizes steroids while it's nothing for a woman to have a breast job, plactic surgery or lipo suction all of which are major operations by the way.the hypocritical thinking of our nation fucking amazes me.

All my training partners have been men.

Right now I am training with a 19 year old man who REALLY wants to take steroids and almost did a dumb cycle.

I use the term 'training' lightly as in the last week we have started to train together, he has not turned up THREE times.

I also know if I was not there to push him, he wouldn't do things he needs to do like calves.

AND he rarely BLOWS the doors out when we are training

When I started to bodybuild properly, I trained with the biggest, strongest guy in the gym.

He pushed me so much at time I hated him.

He made me cry, there were times I felt like my head would explode from the pressure doing leg press (I have done 400 kg).

I would feel like I would be sick (especially after leg day) and IT HURT, not just while I was training, but sometimes for DAYS after.

I can't remember the last time I ate bread.

I have had no dairy in my diet for three months.

I have weighed food so often and calculated the calories and macronutrients I can rattle off an amazing number of foods off the top of my head.

I keep a record of what I eat when I am dieting, and off season, I keep a running total in my head most days.

And then I hear the young men in the gym talking about going out on the piss, eating fast food (cause they are bulking), and then wondering why they are not keeping their gains from their last cycle.

My point is DON'T TAKE THE DRUGS UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO WALK THE WALK.

Everything has to be in check, otherwise you will just be getting all the sides and long and short term effects without anything PERMANENT.
