We have like a third of an inch of ice on our roads and I've been totally housebound all day cuz all I gots is an '08 Vette and a '60 Austin Healey Sprite to drive. One I wouldn't drive in the ice and one I know couldn't drive in the ice.

Everybody else is driving back and forth in front of my casa since about noon and here I am looking out the fricking window like the kid with chicken pox that can't come out and play.

Dude I need a Yaris.

Husband used it to get to work this morning. Couldn't take his old Ford Ranger b/c it's a two wheel drive and couldn't get any traction.

Shovel snow into the bed of it, let some air out of the tires and quit whining~!:chomp:

Seriously? No, you need a spanking.

get yourself a 90's jeep cherokee xj. . .one with a solid front axle. . .lift it enough to get some 35's under it. . .practical daily-driver, that gets around good in the snow/what-have-you, that you can do some light-to-moderate off-roading with, and looks way cool.

I had my dad's Ford Ranger over the winter one year when my Honda's engine exploded:

Anyway, I had a surprisingly easy time getting around in ice and snow in the 2WD Ranger. I suppose the Firestone Wilderness AT tires didn't hurt.

His tires are way past their expiry date anyway. If we had any more bags of gravel in the basement I probably would've just piled several in the bed over the wheels and gtfo out of here.

I drive the rear wheel drive bimmer in the snow...w/o rascist tires

but I do like a jeep for off road/snow

A set of tires is a whole lot cheaper than a whole 'nother vehicle.

My dad's Ranger was a '99 with the V6, auto, 2wd, extended cab. I only got stuck when I high-centered it in a snowbank behind my building.

That's his car. I need a practical car.

Pwned by not owning a practical car.

should have bought a scooby or an evo or if you ballin a gtr. they all have awd. mine is a blast in the snow!!and i can beat ur vette.

I'm doing my best to muster up a little sympathy for ya, darlin. But as I drove my AWD vibe across town in 7 below zero weather to do 5 miles with the rest of my insane running club, I realized that your life is still better than mine.

Sorry.

So you're inconvenienced for, maybe, one week out of the year, that's not really the basis for making a financial decision as large as a vehicle purchase.

How is the EV in the snow?

Decent. It's hard not to spin the tires on take-off b/c it makes 100% of it's torque the instant you touch the throttle. However, it's down on juice b/c of the cold temps so that actually works out to be an asset in the snow and ice.

wtf u talkin bout Willis? My TCS/ESC has made this winter tolerable.

I'm with dB. Traction control sucks in the snow. In my Ford 500 I could disapble it but I had to remember to do everytime I started up the car.

Anti-lock brakes also have no place on snowy roads.
