Shark Week

[Atomic Punk]

Anyone watch this last night? Well they did a 2 hour show, most of which consisted of them playing with these giant mechanical sharks they made, in order to test bite-pressure, strength, deadliest bite, etc. Well, they had this poor girl on the show, at the test site, who just happened to have her left leg bitten off at the hip by a HUUUGE great white shark. They actually caught it on video. Im sure you've seen it. A girl swimming with a life-preserver on in the middle of the ocean between 2 boats. You can see the second boat in the backround. You then see a giant shadow coming from under that boat, and people starting to scream. The girl turns to the forground, and tries to start swimming to the boat closest to the camera. Shark fin appears. She goes under, then resurfaces. I guess at that point, the guy drops the camera, and she makes it to the edge of the boat, only to have the shark come back and snag her again, and the people on the boat end up tug-of-warring with it in order to get her to the safety of the boat. In the meantime, her leg rips off. Scarey shit for sure! So anyhoo, they have this same poor girl at this mechanical shark testing site, and these numbnutz scientists are trying to figure out the proper pounds per square inch of pressure that is needed to snap a human femur bone. This is why they have her there. They wanted to know what kind of pressure she felt when the leg detatched, as if at the time she were calculating the shit in her head as this giant fish chomps away at her. I just thought it so amuzing the way they were just asking her these questions about her attack so matter-of-factly, as if being torn in 1/2 by this thing made her some sort of expert on shark bite pressure or some shit. She is looking at them with this look like..."you know, this is my worst nightmare come true, but to you clowns it is just some nerdy experiment". Anyhow, I guess you had to see it.

They also showed(which I think is THE MOST HILARIOUS THING in the world) some "doctor" getting his calf ripped off by a bull shark. Famous last words, right before the bite he says "now all we have to do is be still, and they won't bother us"! CHOMP.

Anyonme else watch and find this utterly amusing?

yeah i watched it...the best was seeing the footage of the guy's non-existent calf at the very end of the show with all the muscle and skin hanging off of it.

That doctor from the florida univerisity that got his calf torn off was an idiot. Standing in the middle of a bunch of sharks while someone throws raw meat in the water. NOt just any sharks, freaking Bull Sharks, the shark that attacks more people than any other in the world. It is sort of sad really, he is STILL trying to say that sharks do not see us as food, and they only bite us accidentally. The freaking shark bumped him, than took a little taste, decided he liked it and ripped off a big chunk. People just have to accept that sharks sometimes see us as an easy snack.
