thurs
12.21.2006

Cardio: 20 minutes of non-stop treadmill fast walk @ 3.5-3.7

Decline Crunches: BWx8, BWx8, BWx6

Good Mornings: barx10, 75x8, 95x5, 115x5, 135x5

hyyyuge knot in my upper right back, feels rhomboydish...ARRRGG matey. it's annoying, going to try to roll that sucker out in a minute.

No planks... I'll do them tomorrow. Back is feeling great at this exact momment in time too.

Treated myself to 3 slices of 'roni pizza tonight... even though I've been feeling really good finally from eating clean and not like a scumbag for 2 weeks straight anymore, lol.

Possible heavy bench day tomorrow for 5 rep top set, see how i feel... may give it another day and start week7 saturday.
Roll and chest stretch...
:)

Good job on not feeling like a scumbag.

Sarge,

those comments you made a few days ago about the 5x5 advancing your lifts without your core keeping pace really resonate with me. I am definitely following along because I think I'm in the same boat and I need to start incorporating more core work outside of weighted situps/declines and hypers myself.

Keep up the progress your squat is gonna be your strength before you know it because of the care and attention you are showing it now.

Merry Christmas amigo.

Treil: I rolled the crap out of my upper right back region for a few seconds... hard... hurt like hell, but felt awesome after. Did the trick, it doesn't feel all tight and knotted today. I love my roller!
lol, thanks. It feels good to feel good an not like a fat fuck... gawdang, where's my cranberry juice!? ;)

CK: Thank you... I hope you and yours have a great holiday too!

Kabeetz: I didn't do ANY bodyweight decline ab crunches when i was getting strong at my squat... up to ~240lbs i think at my most ATF. That was the problem, my posterior chain was getting so friggin strong and tight and simply pulling my spine up and back cuz my ab muscles and whatnot were weak. So if you're doing decline crunches a few times a week that should be good, add weight to them when you can.

Thank you bro. Merry Christmas to you too :coffee:

Sarge tell me about your decline crunches - are you doing a crunch or using a full ROM?
I hold the pause for a moment or two and back up explosively. Not all the way down, can't do that my back doesn't appreciate it.

Good b/c you do not have to go all the way down to benefit from the movement ... allows for injury & cheating if you are not conditioned to do so.

Merry Christmas back atcha!

I agree with sarge - don't worry about trying to isolate your core (whatever the crap that means) with additional exercises. Just make sure you're progressing on the decline sit-ups and whatever other ab work you're doing and you should be fine. You're using your core a lot on all of the lifts as it is, so core-specific exercises are superfluous unless you're trying to correct an imbalance (which, since you've been keeping up with the sit-ups, probably isn't an issue).
